Indonesia is home to huge tropical rainforests, but much of it has been destroyed by local habitat or illegal logging, but there is still a protected area from it all.. The best examples are found on the island of Sumatra, Borneo and New Guinea.. Orang-utan, probably the most famous inhabitants of these rainforests. Orang-utan, the only great ape that can be found in Asia, is just one of the natural features that make the region most famous.
I also invited Sonia for breakfast.. He was going to join our excursion today, but his boss, who was supposed to come the next day, decided to come the day before, so he won’t be able to accompany us because he has to go to the island of Java today.. Hadir, who said he will come and get you at 8:45, only came at 9:15 with his red eyes.. We started trekking at 10 without any rush.. First, we passed the steps leading up to the hotel on the hill in the village and entered the forest and then the Gunung Leuser National Park.. The other group joined us as we walked into the depths of the forest for half an hour.. There were 3 Hungarian boys, 2 Swiss girls, and 5 other people who just took daily trekking, with whom we would spend the night in the forest.. When we reached one of the big trees in the forest, we took a break there.. He said that he could climb the tree and do the same for us if we wanted to have a photo taken.. Farid and I climbed a tree and captured the moment. At the time of the fruiting of this tree, some groups of monkeys came and settled here and fed here for a long time.
We continued our walk and watched the monkeys in one place.. Then he was watching us as we watched an Orang-utan walking around with his cub. He came close to me and sat on the branch of the tree, looking at us one by one.. Orang-utan offspring are more sensitive and can attack you when you act aggressively or get too close.. Indeed, the notorious Sandra, one of the jungle’s aggressive Orang-utans, had attacked one of the guides a few years ago.. He hit the orang-utan on the head with his stick in the manual. Since then, this orang-utan has been quite aggressive and aggressive towards visitors.. We passed his territory unspoken and silently, but we could not see him.
When we stopped for lunch, an Orang-utan approached us.. Intention to grab something. At Gunung Leuser National Park, the rules are more strictly enforced than we’ve seen elsewhere in Indonesia.. While Mount Rinjani National Park is in garbage, this place is clean and we did not encounter any waste on the trekking paths.. Likewise, the rules with forest animals are strictly enforced.. Orang-utan, who came to us for food, did not get anything. One of the guides introduced us to the turtle he saw in the forest.. Since the tortoise’s nails are damaging, the guide friend showed the turtle to the orang-utana and tried to drive it away from us, but the animal kept circling around us while we were there.
As black clouds appeared in the air, we walked towards our campsite.. After going up and down a few hills, we came to the campsite by following the river bed.. The forest is hot and humid. We immediately put on our shorts and left ourselves in the clean and cold river.. We had fun taking a shower at the small waterfall in the river right next to our campsite.. The expected rain came at that moment. While it was raining as if the sky was torn, we threw ourselves under the awning where we would sleep at night.
The guides were preparing food while we watched the rain.. Known as the Monitor Lizard, large lizards in the shape of the small Komodo Dragon had gone hunting in the waters of the river and in the grass.. For the first time in my life, I witnessed to see Monitor Lizards in this natural environment.. Our teas were served first.. Then the rain stopped and a large plastic sheet was laid in front of our awning and we ate our prepared meals.. This was the best meal I’ve had in Indonesia, where I’ve been traveling for almost two months.. While we were given simple rice and a few pieces of chicken in Mount Rinjani, where we did a very challenging trekking, there were 2 kinds of chicken, one of which was cooked with potatoes and vegetables, and one of which was juicy, rice pilaf, boiled vegetables.. It was a nice drink with Ginseng tea and milk cream on the side.
After dinner, Hadir entertained us with some trick card game shovu.. Again, we continued with the game of getting the result by changing the place of a garbage in the number games made with garbage.. the weather was cool. There was no sleeping bag given to us. I lay on the mat and hug my sarong. They covered the tent with plastic sheets. It was showing 10 o’clock when we slept in that deep silence of the forest.
