Going Abroad for the First Time
“Going abroad” is an exciting and special occasion in itself. What about “going abroad for the first time?”
Places you go abroad usually different from the living conditions you are used to. It is these unknowns that make your destination attractive.. Before you go abroad, sleep well, eat well and be energetic against all kinds of things that may happen to you.. After this basic condition, you can consider my tips under headings !
Make Your Travel Planning Well
I always repeat this in Gorkemliyollar! No matter how much freedom you want to travel, your freedom should have a limit.. determine these limits of your abroad trip well in advance so that what you will experience does not turn into a bad memory!
Have your travel plan ready in advance in your mind, research the places you will go well, read the articles written about it, and in advance on the streets of the map.

Choose Your Stay in Advance
I think this is a must for all excursions! You must know the place where you will stay at the place you are going to, like your name.. The reservation you make in advance is not enough. You should also know the location of the hotel. Also on the terms !
Setting a Place to Stay Abroad ?
Get to the Airport Early
I’m sure you’re all at the airport You know the procedures, but going abroad is a completely different experience!
I’ve witnessed a lot of people who missed their flight while waiting for their passports. Remember, you will experience this moment for the first time and going early will only waste you 1-2 hours!

Know Your Way From the Airport to the City
For some reason we landed we plan as if we are going to teleport from the airport to our hotel! Even though I have been abroad dozens of times, I can experience a short shock in the first minutes of every new city I visit, because you are not used to this atmosphere at all.
Before you go, you should know how to reach the city from the airport you will land on For a traveler , solutions like a taxi make no sense ! Be sure, there is a unique local transportation system everywhere, and using them is the best way to start living that city.
Don’t be afraid of passport control
Legends, legends ! When going abroad, people are most afraid of meeting with this passport officer, especially if we are going to America or something… I was even taken to a private room !
The only thing I knew in all of them was that I was just a tourist on their own !
Yes we are sweet tourists who only come to visit there Do not be afraid, be open and clear, the officer in front of you is doing his job, right?
Of course, there is a limit to this comfort.. Keep your hotel reservation, round-trip flight ticket, or if you are going to go to other cities, keep your tickets for planes, trains, buses, etc. on these roads in print. It is the most natural right to demand these documents !
My First Day Abroad / Vienna, Austria
Get Rid of Prejudices
There is no country that loves us! and leave it in history. We are all human and rest assured that it is impossible to get a bad response against sincere behavior.
The best friendships I have made abroad are actually from countries such as England, France, Australia, Canada, where we stay away from politics.. Remove borders abroad and approach people without prejudice !
Contact People
We have removed prejudices and it’s not far away! Contact these people, feel free to ask what you don’t know. Put yourself in their shoes and think about how you would react if a tourist asks you questions.
In order not to go abroad like a museum and get to know their culture, be in common areas with people from different countries and local people, even try to join them.

Stay Away From Herpes
They always misunderstand me when I say try to join them! You should avoid behaviors that can be described as absurd abroad. There are such interesting customs and rules that you may suddenly find yourself at the police station!
After all, it is an environment that you are not accustomed to and you do not know.. “Don’t hit a man without a genie”, we’re still on our feet and “if we don’t pay for the subway?” these ideas are in our minds
This is what it’s like to be Turkish! When you go abroad for the first time, forget your Turkishness for a bit, the time will come!
Keep Cash With You
I don’t think our country will have any problems with this.. We’ve all felt the confidence that cash gives us when we have it in our pockets.. Or we can hear our mothers saying, “Let them be with you, just in case”, right?
Mothers are right today too! Do not rely too much on your credit cards when going abroad. The system is different in each country.. You must have foreign currency with you.. Preferably local currency, if you can’t find it, at least dollar and euro !
Dubai Marina Area
Avoid Using Exchange Office at Airport
Speaking of foreign currency, there are also exchange offices at airports. Turning money around here is almost suicide!
The exchange offices in our country will be angry with me, but this is the truth.. I suggest you only convert enough money to drive yourself into the city, and you’ll have to convert the rest in the city anyway.
Get Your Offline Map Ready
Some will understand me. I really trust my map memory. I can easily find my direction in the areas that I have visited from the hill before.. Even I am surprised at this sometimes. I left Istanbul and went 11,000 km ahead to California, and as soon as I get off the subway, I take firm steps as if I’m going to a place I’ve known for years!
It doesn’t have to be that way.. The most used one is Google Maps, thankfully it has offline feature ! Download the map of your destination in advance. Remember, the GPS in your phones is a free service and wherever you go in the world, your phone, which can see the sky, will be able to locate you easily regardless of your mobile line.

Have a Dictionary in Local Language
As if the mother tongue of every place abroad is English! Even I, who has gone abroad many times, do this sometimes.
Think about it, what area of life is there writing in English in our country? Yes, as you guessed, you will need an offline dictionary of the country you are going to, of course.. In this regard, I see the most effective program as Google Translate.. In addition to English, always have the languages of the countries you will visit with you!
Turn Your Phone On Abroad
Our phones are closed abroad as standard. I think the reason for this is to prevent people living close to our country’s borders from being charged with tariffs from another country!
In order to freely use our own lines abroad, we must open our line abroad from the online transaction centers of our operators. What if we need something urgently? ?
Pay Attention to the Coronavirus Rules
Now we know how to live with the pandemic Especially if we are going abroad during this period, we need to pay attention to the current Covid-19 travel rules.
Today I tried to give small tips for those who will travel abroad for the first time, I hope it will help you with your pleasant trips, have a splendid day for all of you !
