For those looking for a weekend getaway, cheap tickets, a maximum of 2 hours of flight and plenty of taste discovery, we are on our way to Milan, the fashion capital of the world, to Italy with the taste of package travel.. Milan Travel Guide is with you..
Let’s say it from the beginning; People are divided into those who find Milan too cold and those who don’t, and those who sober up and say they’ll live here.. I went believing that no city in Italy would be cold, and frankly, I couldn’t understand why those who don’t like it don’t. I think it’s best to come here by accepting that there will be no Venice and to spend a pleasant weekend trip in the city.
There are 3 airports in Milan, but when you buy your ticket, it is Bergamo Orio Al Serio Airport instead of Malpensa Airport. If you prefer , you will have a much more comfortable transportation because the other option is far from the city. For Linate Airport, I did not see many flights from Istanbul. Click here to look at air tickets.
Transportation from the airport to the city center in Milan is quite easy. When you get in and out of Bergamo Airport, a lot of buses leave right from the door.. You can use these buses for 5 Euros one way per person and you can reach the city center, namely Central Station.
city transportation in Milan is a lot of walking, metro and sweet yellow trams. board. Not all places to visit are close to each other. For this reason, you sometimes buy and use a metro ticket by paying 1.5 Euros one way.. If you are a lazy person and say no to walking, there are daily tickets, but I think exploring on foot is indispensable especially for the cities of Italy.
If you ask how many days to stay in Milan, I think it’s 2 nights. Of course, if you want to extend this period and add Lake Como to your trip, maybe you can rent a car and spend a night in Lake Como.. I think seasonal conditions are very effective in this.. We did not want to spend money on renting a car for an abandoned Lake Como in the cold, and we preferred to hang out in the city.
When I think about which season to go to Milan, I think spring and autumn are the most ideal.. It’s not too crowded and the weather is nice.. We went in January, but did we regret it? NEVER. Luckily Milan welcomed us with the sun. But remember, Milan is famous for its rain as it is located quite far to the North.. Rainy weather can spoil your mood even a little. I hope you will be lucky!
The Schengen Visa that will allow you to enter through the European gate, unfortunately, is a problem for all of us periodically. We have always managed to obtain a 6-month visa until today.. But I am hopeful, when this visa expires, I will apply from Italy again and this time a 1 year visa will be issued.. I always try to apply for my Schengen visas from Italy.. 6 months straight. If you buy from Italy 3 times in a row, it gives a visa for 1 and 2 years.. This Milan trip was also an excuse to renew our visas and we found ourselves in Italy after a weekend to feel Milanese.
How to Get a Schengen Visa
The best areas to stay in Milan are Centro and Brera. Again, we handled the accommodation business using Airbnb. Prices vary between 250-300 TL for a double person per night.
Actually, we made our schedule so that we could get a little excited and stay in Milan on the first day and go to Florence on the second day, but we were pretty ridiculous! Is it enough, my storyteller, 1 day to Florence. Anyway, when we realized this and returned from the plan, we could not arrange the house we rented on the first day for the second day and we stayed in 2 different places during our Milan trip.. It wasn’t bad actually because we were fooled by the shape of the house on the first day, but it didn’t come out very clean.. We liked the 2nd house more. I share the links of both, you decide. Roberto, the owner of our 2nd house, was a very sweet person. more useful for you Let’s get started, Where did we visit on the first day in Milan?
The first meal of the day was pizza at Spontini. Spontini is quite famous here.. They have thick and huge pizzas. If you go to the ones with the black sign, you eat standing up, more like fast food, the ones with the red sign are the ones you order and eat while sitting down.. I’m very sorry to say that I found it exaggerated, it didn’t appeal to me very much.
For Leonardo Da Vinci’s The Last Supper long ago online for 12 €. We were very lucky to get tickets.. It was amazing! Contrary to what everyone knows, the Last Supper is not a painting, it is a fresco.. Leonardo Da Vinci painted this on the wall of Santa Maria delle Grazie, a tiny church. Due to the painting technique of that period, the work is falling out and insanely restored to protect it.. While entering, we passed through 3 doors with security on top of security.. All groups can stay inside for 15 minutes.. Our eyes examine the work on the wall to the fullest.. 1 day before the crucifixion, Jesus gathers his 12 disciples and says to them, I know one of you will betray me.. And at that moment Judas was waiting with a knife in his hand.. I saw it with the eyes of the world, I was so happy! On the opposite wall is the picture of Jesus crucified.. Definitely buy tickets in advance, go that way. Otherwise, you either can’t find a place, or you get in from the black market for 70 – 80 Euros.
Then you see the Duomo Cathedral with more than 3500 statues and the oldest shopping mall in the world. We visited Galleria Vittorio Emanuele, one of my favorites. After all, these two are symbols of Milan.
We drank the delicious Italian coffee of the day at the historic pastry shop Mercanti near the Duomo. The coffee text you see on the menus in Italy means espresso for them.. So if you see coffee and tell it, know that it’s espresso.. I would also like to point out that I have not enjoyed any of the coffees I drank back and forth!
Aperitivo at Fonderie Milanesi after the canal tour in the Navigli region in the evening. we did the evening and explored different dishes with delicious snacks while sipping our drinks for 10 €. Navigli is just like Amsterdam, of course only very very small.. I LOVE the aperitivo culture! It usually starts around 18-19:00 and continues until 20-21:00.. You can eat many dishes just by paying for your drinks. Unlimited. You pay per drink. Their logic is to have a snack before the main meal, but we ate a lot, brother, there is no room left for dinner!
What did we do on our second day in Milan?
Today Pave, it was our best choice to start by eating cracking croissants.. Might be the best croissant we’ve ever eaten! I love croissants with vanilla cream anyway, and I think they make this variety best in Italy, not even Paris.. Also keep in mind the Princi oven for breakfast. On our return day, we stopped by Princi and discovered delicious snacks.. By the way, the coffee is pretty good.
For an afternoon snack at the famous Luini in the back street of V.Emanuel AVM, Panzerotti filled with pesto, mozzarella and tomatoes. it was delicious to eat. I likened it to our bakery and I loved it. Is it possible that it’s already bad? There’s pesto! We literally waited in line for 15 minutes on the street and it was totally worth it. The whole street was eating Panzerotti!
Then we decided to burn what we ate and explored the city on foot, reaching Brera. This neighborhood might really be the best neighborhood in Milan. The streets are beautiful, full of amazingly beautiful antique shops. I asked a few earth globes. They charged 3000 euros for globes from the 1920s. I said ok, I walked out of the shop in love.
We found ourselves at La Prosciutteria for house wine and delicatessen explorations.. Bottle of wine was 8€, a huge snack plate of cheese and meat was 10€. We had a great time here.
Coffee of the day was drunk under a very historical building at 10 Corso Como. A steaming espresso of course! This building is the most photographed spot on Corso Como street. It’s a very old and beautiful building.
We couldn’t find a place in both Dry and Dolce&Gabbana from the places on our list for cocktails and we passed. Since Milan is the known fashion capital, there are Dolce&Gabbana’s and Emporio Armani’s cafes, bars, Bulgari’s hotel or something where you can go and get different experiences.. It’s expensive for food, of course, but maybe you can stop by for a cocktail.
The last activity of the night, full of socializing, while waiting in line for 1 hour, Prosecco and pizza are served for only 6-9 €. The place to eat pizza is Pizza Am. Our favorite is Marinara! And the melon shot served after the meal! I think it was the best pizza I’ve ever eaten..
We walked 10.5 km on the 1st day and 13.5 km on the 2nd day after a weekend in Milan!
In this trip, where we wandered around like a mad cow for 2 nights and 2.5 days, chasing food and drink; We spent 650 TL for flight tickets for 2 people, 500 TL for accommodation and 180 Euros for all other expenses including transportation.
