Years later, we are meeting with gourmet bloggers for a tasting of its new concept MEZZE & BAR by MURPHY’S Kalamış at Murphy’s Dance Bar in Kalamış Marina, where we had fun on weekend nights many years ago.. Mörfi Merham has recently changed a part of the venue, which she has operated with the concept of a dance bar for years, to Demhane , now offers its guests the opportunity to infuse with raki and appetizers in the same place and have fun after taking their brews 🙂
In Demhane, guests are given a weekly sub-menu that changes according to the season from 170 different appetizers on the menu.. Our pleasant conversation with Mr. Mörfi on the theme of Istanbul nightlife continues as we taste the delicious appetizers that we did not expect when we went to our table.. topical, stuffed peppers with vegetables, stuffed aubergines served on a giant vine leaf, followed by lakerda, stuffed mussels and browsing all from someone’s hand It shows that it is delicious. Our prejudices that we cannot expect much in terms of taste from a tavern concept converted from a dance bar are being erased one by one. The famous peach kebab of Cyprus, which I liken to home-made sausage, is a very unusual hot starter option and it is honored to be my favorite flavor tonight 🙂 , rice with anchovy and leek meatballs are in attendance. Although the Sea bass with almond sauce, served as the main course, is very successful in terms of both presentation and taste, I think that a grilled seasonal fish, such as Çinekop, would suit raki better.. The doughless Tez Pişti dessert prepared by Ms. Reca using semolina, orange and walnuts marks the night with both its lightness and taste… At the end of the night, We would like to thank Mr. Mörfi for his invitation and sweet talk, and we share our common opinion that there is a need for renovation in terms of decoration so that such beautiful and extraordinary flavors can reach more people.
