Lviv was one of the cities in my travel plans, but because I used different cities as my priority, I kept postponing it by saying “We’ll go anyway”. Almost everyone started flocking to Lviv, with the visas being removed and the process of entering only with chip ID & passport.. Lviv photos on Instagram did not stop. That being the case, I said “There is something certain in this city, let’s not postpone it any longer” and decided to spend New Year’s Eve in Lviv.. Despite the cold weather, the city where I had the most fun and had a pleasant time was Lviv.. Throughout the Lviv travel guide, I tried to tell you all my experiences about the city.
“It’s a good time to relax for two or three days, it’s close, I won’t have to deal with visa problems, I’ll try to leave my wallet on the table for dinner. If you want a place where you won’t need it”, Lviv is the right address for you! If you are going abroad for the first time, I recommend that you choose Lviv.. Lviv more than meets your expectations with its wonderful venues, delicious and affordable food, historical and cultural structure! Then, let’s get to know this cute city of Ukraine better.

Where is Lviv? Lviv About Information
Lviv Located in the west of Ukraine. It is so close to Poland that if you have a Schengen visa you can travel to Poland by train or bus from here. Since Lviv means “lion” in Ukrainian, you can see the lion figure in many parts of the city.. Lviv, which has been under the domination of Austria-Hungary, Poland and Soviet Russia for centuries, is therefore a multicultural city.. It is impossible not to admire the beauty of the buildings while walking around the streets.. Although he left the Soviet Union in 1991 and gained his freedom, the nostalgic atmosphere still prevails in the city.. Maybe it is not a magnificent city as Prague or Budapest, but it has managed to preserve its historical structures at least as much as they do.. I did not encounter a single new building while I was visiting.. The fact that the old city is on the UNESCO World Heritage List has a great impact on this.

Lviv Currency
Hryvn, the official currency of Ukraine in Lviv a is used. Its abbreviation is UAH. According to the November 2020 exchange rate, 1 TL is approximately 3.65 Ukrainian hryvnia. Before your trip to Lviv, you can take dollars with you and exchange them in the city center.. However, you will need hryvnia to use public transportation or taxi at the airport, you can exchange 5 dollars at the airport exchange office like us.
How to go to Lviv?
There are direct flights from Istanbul to Lviv from THY and Pegasus companies. It is possible to go to Lviv with Ukraine Airlines as indirect from Kiev.. It takes 1.5 hours by plane from Istanbul to Lviv. I think one of the biggest advantages is the short flight time.. As if you are traveling within Turkey, you get off without understanding how time passes.. Since we went to Lviv during the New Year’s Eve, we paid round trip 425 TL for 1 person for the flight ticket.. (December 2017) Since it is a demanding period for Lviv as well as visa-free entry from Turkey, flight ticket prices have started to increase.. My advice to you is to download the mobile application of Pegasus and follow the frequent discounts.. In this way, you can find tickets at more affordable prices.. Ukraine Airlines also has very reasonable pricing for travels in 8-9 months.. I would definitely recommend you to take a look at cheap Ukraine tickets. In my opinion, the maximum ticket price that can be given for a round-trip flight ticket to Lviv is 450-500 TL per person.. No more is needed.
I often share air ticket campaigns and cheap flight tickets from my Instagram account (@seyahatimgeldi). If you want to be informed about travel opportunities, you can follow:)
Lviv Login with ID
About Lviv is one of the most frequently asked questions: Does Lviv require a visa? If Lviv is popular right now, it’s because visa-free is accessible. Because most of us have a very busy work life.. We don’t want to spend our time tidying up the endless paperwork for the Schengen visa.. When we add the 60 euro Schengen fee and the consultancy fee at the 29 euro visa application center, we get almost 800 TL in our pockets.. You can spend this money on delicious food and shopping to your heart’s content on your trip to Ukraine.. Moreover, due to the depreciation of the Turkish lira against the euro, one third of the money you spend in any European country will be out of your pocket.
Passport-free entry to Ukraine by mutual agreement June Effective from 2017. The most important detail here is that your ID is with a chip. If you do not have a passport with you with your old ID, you cannot enter. Therefore, if you have not changed your ID with new chip ID, be sure to take your passport with you.. If you have a chip ID no passport needed, because they see all your information from your ID. Before coming to Lviv, I thought that we could easily go through passport control with just ID.. However, the situation was not quite as it was portrayed.
Lviv Interrogation Room Adventure
Our plane Lviv Danylo When we landed at Halytskyi Airport, we thought we would get our IDs ready and pass the control quickly.. Because the articles we read before were that crowded groups of men were taken to the interrogation room and women could easily pass through.. We faced the truth when the Ukrainian passport officer pointed to the interrogation room after giving our identity card.. It turns out that everyone who enters Ukraine for the first time, regardless of male or female, is taken to the interrogation room.
The procedure for those entering Ukraine for the first time is as follows:
- Identity check
- Interrogation room
- Identity check
- Entry into the country
During the identity check, you will receive a small they give information card. In the English parts of this card, you need to fill in your name, surname, where you came from, the address of the place you will stay in Lviv, which plane you came and when you will return.. That’s why I suggest you bring a pen with you. At least you can fill in the information while in line, so you don’t waste your time.. We did not take a pen with us because we were unaware of such an application. The female soldier at the airport gave us a pen to quickly fill in the information.
It takes 1 hour before it is your turn for the interrogation room, depending on whether you get off the plane and get in line. finds. If there are large groups of men in front of you (we were there), the time may be a little longer.. Don’t be intimidated by the interrogation room. All of the soldiers in the room are women and they ask you questions in Turkish:) Now, as many Turks have come, they have learned Turkish, albeit a little.. They ask you your name, surname, where you come from, how long you will stay, how much money you brought with you, where you will stay, what job you do.
There is another important information I need to remind you.. Before you come to Ukraine, make sure to take a printout of your round-trip flight ticket and information about where you will be staying (hotel-hostel-airbnb reservations) with you.. Because if you are logging in for the first time, you must show these documents in the interrogation room. They record all documents with a camera.. The waiting time during the interrogation room is prolonged because of those who do not bring these documents with them or those who want to enter the country without arranging a place to stay.. It took less than two minutes for us to enter and exit the interrogation room.. Because we had prepared the documents beforehand.

It’s hard to deal with the tiring visa process. It can be difficult to collect endless paperwork and make time for a visa appointment, especially if you’re working.. As if it was not enough that they mostly gave short-term visas, the fact that they would increase the fee to 80 euros started to direct many people to visa-free cities.. Here are 10 visa-free cities that you can include in your travel plans: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀ 🇺🇦Lviv, Ukraine⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🇬🇪Tbilisi, Georgia 🇷🇸Belgrade, Serbia⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🇧& #x1f1e6;Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina 🇲🇪Budva, Montenegro 🇲🇰Skopje, Macedonia 🇲🇩Chisinau, Moldova yrf , Lebanon 🇯🇴Amman, Jordan 🇰🇿Almaty, Kazakhstan. . . . . #seyahatimgeldi #travel #travel #gezibaglari #neredekal #wanderlustturkiye #traveleryasamlar #voyage #traveler #genctraveler #anadoluphotography #kadrajimdan #benimgozumden #aniyakala #dayphotography #gezirehberi #gezginyasamlar #voyager #traveler #gencgezginler #anadoluphotography #cadrajimdan #benimgozumden #aniyakala #dayphotography #gezirehberi #gezginyasamlar #danemenlazim #gunungexpert #hurter
After leaving the interrogation room, you re-enter the passport control line and hand the card you filled in to the officer.. It checks your information and, if appropriate, grants entry to the country. An important detail here is that you hide this card, which is stamped and given to you, until you exit.. Personally, I did not know this detail and threw away the card given by the woman at the entrance 🙂 When leaving the country on the day of return, the female officer asked for this card and said that without this card, it would not be possible to exit the country.. But when I said I didn’t know this and shed a bit of language, he photocopied my chip ID and gave me my exit.. Be you, if you are entering with your chip ID, keep the card given to you at the entrance well.. Because they ask for this card during passport control when entering Turkey, luckily, since the officer in front of me is Turkish this time, I explained my problem easily, it passed me.. At least that’s how it is for first-time entrants. Those who went to other Ukrainian cities before, passed without waiting with their IDs very comfortably.. We spent about 1.5 hours unnecessarily because of the “security” application.. (Update: When I entered Kharkov in July 2018, the passport officer only wanted to see my return flight ticket and the document about where I would stay.. Since Lviv is close to the Polish border, the control was higher due to the possibility of escaping to the Schengen area.)
Lviv Airport is quite modern, unlike other structures in the city.. There is a currency exchange when leaving the airport. If you brought TL with you, you can convert it to Ukrainian currency hryvnia here. At the airports they receive the money at a slightly lower rate than at other exchange offices, but the exchange rate difference does not matter, as you will not receive thousands of hryvnias.. At least, if you are going to return by taxi or public transportation, you can get enough hryvnia to give to the driver here.. If you are landing in Lviv in the evening, keep in mind that the exchange office may be closed.. In such a case, you can use the ATMs at the airport.
Update Note: The procedures for entering Ukraine have been increased, especially as of 2019. If you are planning to go to any city in Ukraine, be sure to read the up-to-date information note prepared by the Embassy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kyiv.. The practices that everyone encounters when it comes to entering the country are different. Some can enter without any query, while others can be sent back by the first plane. This is a little bit about the passport officer you come across. You still keep the required documents with you for a hassle-free travel.
From Lviv Airport to City Center How To Reach?
Lviv Airport is located about 20 minutes from the city center by car. There are different alternatives according to your budget to go to the city center from here.. First of all, the cheapest mode of transportation from Lviv Airport to the city center is by trolleybus. You can take the number 9 trolleybus from the old terminal section for 3 UAH (0.40 kuruş) to Ivan Franko State University (10 minutes on foot from Rynok).. Bus number 48, departing from the new terminal, takes you to Svobody Square for 4 UAH (50 kuruş).. You can find more detailed information about public transportation times and departure-arrival places from Lviv Airport to the city center, here. taxi is an option. As soon as you leave the airport, taxi drivers come to you and say they can take you to the center.. Normally, for a Ukrainian, the asking price for transportation from the airport to the city center is 60 UAH. (8 TL) However, because they see us as tourists, they start the price from 300 UAH. Unfortunately, the situation is the same in Lviv as it is all over the world.. Taxis here do not have a taximeter. You tell the driver where you are going, he writes the amount in the calculator section of his phone.. Then the bargaining section starts 🙂 If you are going to use a taxi in Lviv, make sure to bargain, you can lower the price this way.. The average amount you will give should be between 100-200 UAH. If they say higher amounts, turn to another taxi driver.. Surely someone will. By the way, since most of the taxi drivers do not speak English, you will have to agree by showing them on the calculator.
We will connect to the internet via Wi-Fi and enter the location we will go to as soon as our departure from the airport is completed, since the weather is very cold, in order not to enter all these attractions We called Uber. When you say Uber, don’t think that a luxury Vito will come like in Turkey.. In about 10 minutes, our Uber driver arrived at the entrance with an old Mercedes A-series vehicle.. He was a very sympathetic Ukrainian.. Although he knew very little English, he tried to give information about the city when his language returned and said that he was very curious about Istanbul.. Thus, our impressions of Ukrainians began to form gradually 🙂
Uber was very comfortable to use to get to the city center from Lviv Airport.. The first price was 109 UAH. (approximately 14 TL) We could see the price requested from us on the screen.. Thus, we have eliminated the situation of bargaining, agreement etc.. Secondly, we have eliminated the worry that we will find a taxi.. Because we read that taxis are scarce in cold and snowy weather.. If you get a high offer from a taxi or if you can’t find a taxi, I suggest you try Uber.. We paid Uber with hryvnia, but if you wish, you can also pay with a credit card.. However, after the credit card duplication incidents at Uber, we were afraid to use this road.. We had the 5 dollars we brought with us converted into hryvnia at the airport exchange office.. By giving 109 of 140 grivna to Uber, we got to Rynok, the main square of the city, in 20 minutes easily. had a driver. The price of going from the city center to Lviv Airport was showing 78 hryvnia (10 TL). However, we could not connect to the driver.. So we returned to the airport by taxi.. The taxi driver first asked for 200 grivna 150 grivna (20 TL) we agreed and went to Lviv Airport in 20 minutes.
When to go to Lviv’
When planning a trip to Lviv, probably the most confusing part is choosing the season.. I think everyone who goes to Lviv will answer this question in writing:) We went on a crazy trip and met the cold of Lviv in winter, but it is in your hands to have a pleasant trip with the precautions you will take here.. First of all, the temperature in Lviv in January was 4 degrees during the day and -1 degrees in the evening.. But I must say that the air is unstable. One day it was freezing, the next day the sun was shining and the temperature was up to 9 degrees.. Born and bred from Ankara, I am used to the cold, I would say nothing would happen, but the cold of Ukraine was different.. When it blows, the cold penetrates your bones. The best precaution you can take is thermal underwear. If you are planning to travel to Lviv in the winter months, make sure to bring thermal tights and long-sleeved thermal underwear with you.. At least if you’re a very cold person like me 🙂 I was able to walk around in the cold thanks to my thermal underwear that I wore under my sweater and jeans for a week.
They say that the feet and head get cold the most, it’s absolutely true. If you wander in Lviv in winter without a wool cap, you will be sick, let me tell you from the beginning:) Make sure you have a thick cap to protect your head from the cold.. You can even bring furry earplugs to protect your ears from the cold.. Wool gloves are a must.. The most important part, I think, is the boots.. Normally, I don’t like Ugg, I spent my days wishing I had a Ugg so that my feet would be warm 🙂 If possible, it would be better to bring snow boots or feathered boots.. If your boots are not very warm, you should definitely wear thermal or wool socks, otherwise you will not feel your feet after a while while walking outside.. If you didn’t bring it with you, there are many places in Lviv where you can buy wool socks, berets, gloves and Russian ushanka, you won’t have any problems with this.. Let your coat be as thick as possible.
It snowed only once during the week we stayed in Lviv.. While I was dreaming that I would enter 2018 with snowfall, I was a little surprised by this situation.. Global warming seems to have hit Ukraine too 🙂 There was no snow but there was rain. So don’t forget to put your umbrella in your suitcase.. Because of the cold, your lips can often dry out, so keep lip protector and hand cream with you.
Although Lviv is beautiful in winter, I’m sure to enjoy the city more. summer is more ideal. In Lviv, the summer temperature is around 20 degrees.. Moreover, it is worth seeing its lush nature.. I’ve already started to dream of seeing Lviv in the summer.. Before you go, I suggest you take a look at the city’s event calendar.
A Different Start to 2018: New Year’s Eve in Lviv
When we decided to go to Lviv for New Year’s Eve, we did not expect such a colorful city to be waiting for us.. Because we were expecting a city that is quite small and on its own compared to other European cities.. we were wrong. The brightly adorned Christmas markets enlivened both Rynok Square and Svobody Square across from the Opera House.. The biggest Christmas market was the one set up in Svobody (Liberty) Square. Hundreds of different things are sold in wooden houses with triangular roofs arranged side by side on both sides of the huge square, from souvenirs to local clothes, from food and drink to Christmas decorations.. Since both squares are closed to vehicle traffic, you can visit and shop comfortably.. When it comes to what you can find in the Lviv Christmas markets, there are mostly wool socks, berets, hats, gloves, fluffy vests and Ukrainian dresses.. I bought wool socks from Ukraine’s Christmas market as a souvenir for me.. I gave 80 hryvnia (10 TL) to socks that are soft and warm on the feet.
The Christmas markets set up in mid-December continue to decorate the city for a month.. You can find many different foods and drinks in the Christmas markets, from candies to chocolate, from local delicacies to hot wine.. In addition, tea and coffee that warms you up in the cold are sold at very reasonable prices.. Especially in the evening, the Christmas markets are one of the most crowded and lively places in the city.. The city looked much more beautiful to our eyes with the giant illuminated pine tree in Svobody Square and the decorations in Rynok Square.. I tried to catch a spare moment to take a photo under the 2018 summer in the lights, but I can’t say that I was very successful 🙂
A giant ice rink is located in the heart of the city, Rynok Square, during the New Year period in Lviv. being installed. The rink, which is flooded by those who want to ice skating from morning hours until midnight, is the scene of wonderful views.. In addition to watching the fallen, if you come across professional shows, you will not want to leave easily despite the cold.. I didn’t dare, but it was quite exciting to even watch it.
I don’t even remember the last time I greeted the New Year on the street, we chose to be in the square this time on New Year’s Eve, which we celebrated with house parties for many years with friends.. Actually, our plan was to go to the nightclub, but when both Fashion Club and Malevich asked for a price of approximately 250 TL, we thought it was unnecessary to pay these amounts in such a cheap city and decided to make our plan. We created it to enter New Year’s Eve with Ukrainians in Svobody Square.. Two bottles of 35 Medof vodka, cardboard glasses, apple juice and chips, which we bought from the market for 35 UAH (4.5 TL)’ We completed our preparations for the New Year’s Eve by spending 6 TL per head:)
The front of the Opera House was starting to fill up around 23.00 on 31 December. I was a little nervous at first, the events that happened on New Year’s Eve in our country came to my mind and I was worried that we were two girls.. Until the show starts. We entered the New Year in a fun way, accompanied by the light shows reflected in the Opera House and the ethnic music of Ukrainian artists.. At exactly 00:00 fireworks began to explode one after the other.. Everyone had fun with respect to each other without disturbing anyone.. Although the liquor was sold at prices that could be considered free, there was not a single outburst.. And everything would have been much better if the cold had not penetrated into us 🙂 The coldest night of our one-week holiday was New Year’s Day.. But we never once complained about the cold, it turns out how much we missed having fun like this…
Everyone was still outside when it showed 02:00 at midnight.. Some of them were sitting on the benches having fun with their own music on, some were walking with their drinks in their hands.. I guess the crowd lasted a few more hours. When we entered the house, the sounds of laughter were still heard from outside.. Now when I think about it, I say I am glad we met at New Year’s in Lviv, she made us relive the moments we longed for… If you are interested in celebrating New Year’s Eve in Lviv with Lviv travel guide New Year and Christmas Markets in Lviv you can read my post.
Where to Stay in Lviv?
One of the most frequently asked questions to me during my trip was “Where to stay in Lviv”. Since we coincided with the New Year’s Eve, affordable hotel options in the center were already exhausted.. Therefore, our only chance was renting a house on Airbnb. The house we found in Rynok Square had 3 rooms, in fact, we only rented one room, but when we went, the landlord said that the other rooms of the house were not kept, and we were the only ones staying in the house for a week.. The accommodation fee in Lviv was 600 TL for 7 nights, we paid 300 TL per person. But the house was very old, the kitchen and the bathroom were from the 1950s, although we were disappointed on the first visit, the best compensation was the beautiful location.. The house was in the Andreolli passage, which led to Rynok Square on one side and Shevchenka Boulevard on the other. We used to come home almost two or three times a day to rest and then go out again.. It wasn’t a problem as we never used the kitchen.. If you are thinking of renting a house in Lviv, take a good look at the photos.
If you plan your travel in advance, you can find hotels and hostels at very affordable prices.. I was very surprised when I heard that the hostel prices in Lviv are 8-10 TL per day.. Of course, if you are looking for comfort, I suggest you stay at the hotel.. 250-300 TL for two people for 3 nights There are hotels close to Rynok Square. Hotel prices vary according to the increase in demand.. If you want advice for accommodation in Lviv, I suggest you choose a place close to Rynok and Svobody Square. Thus, you can easily explore all the places and places to visit without the need for any means of transportation.. For all accommodation options in Lviv, you can check here. You can read more detailed information about accommodation in Lviv in my Where to Stay in Lviv article.
City in Lviv Intra Transportation
The charming city of Ukraine Lviv is one of the rare cities where you will not have any difficulties in transportation.. Because the old city area is small enough to be visited on foot and almost every place and places to visit are in this area.. Public transportation in the city is provided by bus, tram and trolleybus. Since taxis are also very cheap, if you want to go to nearby places, it is one of the options you can choose with peace of mind.. Like other European cities, the word “I’m tired of walking” does not apply to Lviv, so I can say that you will enjoy walking here.. The buildings are so beautiful anyway that I spent an hour every day exploring different streets by walking 🙂
If you are going to take public transportation in Lviv, you can get your ticket from the driver or from the kiosks.. Don’t forget to pierce with the metal tool in the vehicle after you buy your ticket. Ukrainians found such a strange solution in public transportation so that the same ticket would not be used.. I think Lviv is one of the European cities where you will have the least money in terms of transportation.
There are details that draw my attention in Lviv’s public transportation.. Almost all of the drivers are women.. As far as I observed, I saw a male driver once or twice.. While the second year is 2018, it is very surprising that such old transportation vehicles are still used in a European country.. I was surprised when I saw Budapest’s metro for the last time, but I am sure that the transportation vehicles in Lviv will allow you to travel in time 🙂 Third, public transportation vehicles are jam-packed almost every hour of the day.. I think that Lviv’s being a university city and the youth population is a significant factor in this.
Another detail is that the roads in Lviv are paved with cobblestones.. That’s why you shake a lot while traveling by car 🙂 Maybe this is why many vehicles used in transportation are not renewed.. Due to the heavy snowfall in winter, a large part of the old city consists of cobblestones.. That’s why you have a little difficulty even walking. I wonder how Ukrainian women walk in high heels in summer. You can find detailed information about public transportation and routes in Lviv at this address.
We found the solution to take the sightseeing bus for places we couldn’t travel in Lviv because of the cold.. The city tour bus, which departs from across the Opera House, tours the city for 1.5 hours. The most important advantage is that it has Turkish narration option.. The ticket price for a single person is 110 hryvnia (approximately 15 TL) It departs every two hours every day, at 9.00/11.00/13.00/15.00/16.00. I wanted to ride because I was curious about the texture of the city.. While traveling by bus, I realized once again that the city has reached these days without losing its texture in any way.. And we say Lviv is a small city, but there are many historical buildings, churches, universities and parks outside the center.. If you want to visit them all, days are not enough…
Shopping in Lviv
Lviv was one of the cities that surprised me in terms of shopping. You ask why? Shops are open until 21:00. In fact, small gift shops close even later.. When I think of the shops in many European cities that refuse to let them in because it’s 18.00, this place seems like heaven to me.. Since the city is small, there are no shopping streets with such luxury stores.. You can find many souvenir shops in Rynok Square and its side streets.. What caught my eye in many stores was Ukrainian clothing. I fell in love with these clothes designed as shirts, dresses, blouses, t-shirts and immediately started price research.. The price of blouses ranges from 700 to 1500 hryvnia. (between 100-300 TL) More ethnic ones cost up to 3000 hryvnia. Although the city is cheap, it was a little sad to find the same cheapness in terms of ethnic clothes:)
If you go in winter, you can find wool socks, gloves, berets, and furry house shoes in many stores.. Socks are sold at prices such as 80-120 hryvnia, berets 200-300 hryvnia, cozy home uggs 400 hryvnia. Magnets start from 15 hryvnia and go up to 40 hryvnia. (1 TL 7.5 hryvnia for December 2017 exchange rate, its abbreviation is UAH)
For cheap shopping in Lviv, established right behind the Opera House Make sure to stop by the flea market. On my travels, I love to visit the markets where local goods are sold! I was very happy to see that there is such a market in Lviv.. Magnet prices in the market were much more affordable than other places. That’s why I did my magnet shopping here by giving 15 hryvnia (2 TL) to each.. Because I am interested in jewelry, I bought one of the handcrafted colorful jewelry sold in the market.. Jewelry called 250 hryvnia in the store was 150 hryvnia here. (20 TL) The wool gloves were also so beautiful that I bought one in ethnic patterns and gave it 150 grivna (20 TL). Ethnic dresses and blouses were also available here, but the prices were almost the same as in the stores.
Soviet-era badges, coins, caps are among the other items exhibited in the market.. Even though the flea market workers speak very little English, we got along quite easily.. When you show the thing you like and ask “how much”, they write the price on the phone or in the notebook and show it.. Keep in mind, if you bargain, you can shop for more affordable prices.
If you’re into old books, money, photos, Soviet-era items, another flea market address is behind the Dominician Church. Although this is a smaller market, you can stop by if you pass by.
The Opera Passage in Svobody Square is a small shopping center in the city. Since products from Italian brands are usually sold in the four-storey shopping mall, the prices are in Euros and therefore quite high.. Roksolana Shopping Center is another place to stop when it comes to shopping in Lviv.. It is far away from the shopping centers we know, because there are also stores selling imported products and fur, and the prices are burning.. If you have time like us, you can stop by to take a look.. Next to Roksalana Shopping Center, there is another small market where winter products are sold, you can have a look there if you wish. Forum Lviv the largest shopping center in the city. Located 15-minute walk from Svobody Square. When we saw that there were stores like Zara, Mango, LC Waikiki, we didn’t need to stop by.
If you say what to buy in Lviv, it’s definitely chocolate and if you use alcohol vodka . There are two addresses you need to stop by to buy chocolate: The first is Roshen. This is chocolate heaven! As soon as you enter, the smell of chocolate welcomes you.. You can put your belongings in the lockers at the entrance, I think it is very well thought for a more comfortable shopping.. I am sure that you will have a hard time choosing among dozens of chocolates from milk to caramel, from bitter to blueberry.. Prices start from 2-3 hryvnia (50 kuruş) and go up to 80-90 hryvnia (10 TL) depending on the size of the package. There are also chocolates in very stylish packages, it can be one of the best gift options for your loved ones.. On the last day I bought about 15 packs of chocolate from here and paid only 230 hryvnia. (30 TL) Credit card option is also available in Roshen.
Roshen has multiple branches in Lviv. click for the location of the store closest to Rynok Square.
Another address for chocolate shopping in Lviv is Lviv Handmade Chocolate. You can buy mouth-watering chocolates with grains or choose from stylish packages.. Chocolate prices are slightly higher here. Chocolates sold by the grain start from 7 hryvnia (1 TL). Price increases with size. There are also chocolates in the shape of Santa Claus, bunny, panda, etc.. If you have kids, I’m sure they’ll love these chocolates! You can also sit inside and drink coffee accompanied by delicious chocolates.. Lviv eating and drinking guide I talked about this in more detail in my article.
Lviv Handmade Chocolate click for location.
Chocolate in Lviv Speaking of which, I came across chocolates in a style I’ve never seen before in souvenir shops.. When I asked the girl working in the shop, she said that these chocolates unique to Lviv can be kept 1 year without spoiling. There were hearts, keys, giant screws, gaskets, even saw-shaped ones.. He offered a small slice but it tasted too bitter for me. The smallest ones started at 70-80 hryvnia.. If you like bitter, you can try it.
For shopping in Lviv, the store located in the Gas Lamp Museum at 20 Virmens’ka Street is among my favorites with its affordable prices. took place. Krakivska street, Drukarska street and Rynok Square are among the addresses you should check out for shopping.
Blyzen’ko and Arsen are two supermarkets in the city center where you can shop. You can also buy water from the market on the Staroievreiska street where famous places are located.. you can meet your needs. Large waters 10 hryvnia (1.33 lira) small vodka 35 hryvnia (4.5 TL), beers 12 hryvnia (2 TL)
Lviv Places to Visit
Places to visit in Lviv, one of the most beautiful cities in Eastern Europe, than places to visit I have . Especially if you go to Lviv during the winter months, it is possible to spend most of your time in warm places.. However, these places are quite different from the places you know 🙂 For this reason, I have discussed my place suggestions in detail in my Lviv food and beverage guide article..
must see places in Lviv Mostly gathered around Rynok Square. In my detailed research before I came to the city, I read that there are about 150 churches. You really encounter the church every step of the way.. It’s the first time I’ve visited so many churches in a city.. If I were to list the churches that caught my attention:
Dominician Catedral
Lviv Dominican Cathedral is a city with its magnificent structure. adds a special atmosphere. You can visit the interior of the church, which draws attention with its Baroque architecture, free of charge and take pictures.

Carmelite Church
I noticed this church while I was out for a walk to explore the area.. Located on the hill behind the Dominican Cathedral. The church, which you can reach by climbing the stairs, serves as a Greek church today.. It’s free to visit inside.

Lviv Latin Cathedral (Lviv Latin Cathedral)
Located very close to Rynok Square, Lviv Latin Cathedral is one of the oldest cathedrals in Lviv with its gothic architecture.. While you’re here, I definitely recommend you to photograph the Boim Chapel right next to it.. I couldn’t visit because it was closed inside, but I admired its exterior architecture.

Armenian Cathedral of Lviv
This is the only Armenian church among 150 churches in Lviv. When we went in January 2018, the entrance was not from Virmens’ka street, but from Krakivska street as part of it was under renovation.. There is information that the Armenian Cathedral was built inspired by the Ani Cathedral in Kars.. Since I haven’t seen Ani, I can’t make a comparison, but I can say that the interior of this cathedral is very different from other churches.

Bernardine Church (Bernardine Church)
Another religious building that should be on your list of places to visit in Lviv is the Bernardine Church. 17 with its magnificent architecture. You can visit the interior of the church, which has survived since the 19th century, free of charge.
Click Bernardine Church for the location.
The most important point that caught my attention in Lviv churches was that Ukrainians were very fond of their religion.. Every church I visited was pretty full, with people praying on every corner.. I have visited churches in many cities in Europe, but I have never encountered such a crowd in any of them.
Places to Visit in Lviv: Rynok Square (Rynok) Square)
You will spend most of your time here in Lviv, because the most beautiful places are listed in Rynok.. All within walking distance of each other. You leave one place, two steps later you move on to the next.. Just venues? With its magnificent architecture, historical houses, museums, churches, Greek Goddess statues all around, Rynok Square is the heart of social and cultural life in Lviv.
UNESCO World Heritage Site. Rynok Square, which is on the List, is decorated with lights at Christmas time. Christmas markets lined up side by side add a different atmosphere to the square.. On the one hand, street artists show their skills, on the other hand, children and young people enjoy the winter to the fullest on the ice rink. One of the trams is going, the other is coming. Enjoy Lviv to the fullest by taking your coffee and walking around Rynok!

Lviv City Hall (City Hall)
One of the most famous buildings of Rynok Square, Lviv City Hall was built in 1357 Although it was renovated many times due to fire disasters.. A 360-degree view of Lviv awaits you when you climb the clock tower of the Lviv City Hall, which was reopened in 1835! I didn’t try because it was so cold that I couldn’t climb 300-odd stairs with my clothes on, but when you look at the photos, the view from the top looks great! The cost of watching Lviv from a bird’s eye view is 30 grivna (4 TL)

Italian Courtyard
It was one of the places I was most curious about in Lviv Italian Courtyard. When I looked at the photos, it looked quite impressive with its architecture.. I had a little trouble finding it on the map, it turns out it was at the bottom of us.. When you open the door at Rynok Square number 6, it stays inside. Entry fee. You enter by paying 10 grivna (approximately 1.30 TL) per person.
The historical building, one of the most beautiful works of the Renaissance Period in Lviv, is actually a palace.. The work, also known as the Kornyakta Palace, was brought to the present day by an Italian architect in 1580.. There is also a venue on the ground floor in summer, but it was very quiet because it was closed in winter.. I’m sure it would be great to sit here and eat and drink in the summer!

Black Mansion
When you walk to the left from the Italian Courtyard, the black majestic building at 4 will definitely attract your attention.. The building, which is easily noticed among other buildings due to its color, is 16.. It was built in the 19th century by Peter Krasovsky in Renaissance architecture.. There is Lviv History Museum inside, but it was closed because it was under renovation at the time we visited.

Armenian Street (Virmens’ka Street)
One of my favorite places in Lviv was Armenian street. The mystical atmosphere and the texture of the historical buildings here have a special effect on me.. The street where Armenians lived together in Lviv once got its name from here.. Along with the Armenian Church, some of the most enjoyable places are located along this street.. 2-3 minutes walking distance from Armenian Street Rynok Square.
If you are into art, I recommend you to visit the modern art galleries here.. I had the chance to visit Green Sofa Art Gallery located just behind the Armenian Cathedral. In addition to the colorful works of Ukrainian artists, there are also small souvenirs that you can buy for your loved ones.. The exhibition program is renewed once a month.. There was a Christmas exhibition at the time I visited.. Keep in mind that the Green Sofa Art Gallery opens at 12.00.. You can visit until 19.00 in the evening.
Dzyga Art Gallery, ICONART Gallery and Pravda Armenian Street are among the other modern art galleries where you can get your fill of art.

Pharmacy Museum
Don’t say if the pharmacy has a museum too. Happening in Lviv 🙂 This is also one of the oldest pharmacies in Lviv. Medicines are sold at the entrance. In the interior, you can go on a historical journey in the world of ancient medicine in the historical rooms that you can visit for 30 hryvnia (4 TL).. It is located right across the Atlas if you’re interested.

Lviv Garden of Lost Toys (Yard of Lost Toys)
I first saw this place while researching the must-see places in Lviv in the Atlas Obscura book and I was incredibly intrigued.. Hundreds of toys are together outside… That’s the first time I realized that Lviv was a different city, when I left, my opinion on this matter became clear.. The presence of different concepts that I have not encountered in any city before made my trip to Lviv unforgettable.
Lost Toys Garden It is located very close to the old Rynok Square.. But I made a lot of effort until I found this place because it only shows the location of the old square on the map, and it couldn’t find it.. There was no one around to ask, I wandered around, I was almost turning, when I finally came across toys hidden in a small garden, I was happy like children 🙂
There is a large park in front of you in the old Rynok Square, from there upwards Vul. When you turn left from Lva, you can see the toys in the garden of the house.. The story is as follows: A child is playing with his toys in the garden and forgets two of them here.. The man who found the toys is hiding the toys in the hope that maybe he will come back.. But the child does not come again. Since then, everyone around has left a toy one by one, and this fun open-air toy museum emerges!
Toys have increased over the years.. But what caught my attention is that all of the toys are so carefully placed that it really looks like a museum.. Plush animals hanging on the windows, colorful teddy bears placed on logs, little dolls are exhibited like works of art.. New toys are added periodically.. I can’t help thinking that if we had them, they would all have disappeared in two days.
Lviv Opera House (Lviv Theater of Opera) and Ballet)
The most important activity you should add to your plan to make your Lviv trip unforgettable should be watching a show at the Lviv Opera House.. Contrary to the opera and ballet performance prices in Europe, you can see very reasonable prices here.. So How to buy Lviv opera tickets? This is the website you need to go to to find out if there is a show on the dates you planned and to buy tickets to the opera you want to watch. Biz Verdi’s Nabucco opera We bought our ticket for strong> online 1 month before we arrived. I wanted to go to the Nutcracker ballet, but the tickets were already sold out.. If you are interested in such cultural and artistic activities, I would say don’t miss it.
If you can’t find a place to watch opera in Lviv or if there is no show on your departure date, 40 hryvnia (5 TL) to visit inside. You can enter by paying a fee.. The historical opera house, located at the end of Svobody (Liberty) Square, is quite magnificent under the lights at night as well as during the day.. I recommend photographing both day and night.. There used to be a statue of Lenin directly opposite the Opera House, but after the collapse of the Soviet Union, the statue was demolished and an ornamental pool was built instead.. The ornamental pool was closed because we visited in winter.. I’m sure it has a much nicer view in the summer.
Places to visit in Lviv: Lychakiv Cemetery (Lychakiv Cemetery)
I think it’s Lviv Lychakiv Cemetery is one of the places you should visit to add a different breath to your trip.. The cemetery, located twenty minutes from the city center, reminded me of the Novodevichy Cemetery in Moscow. Just like the Novodevichy Cemetery, where we went to visit the grave of Nazım Hikmet, a cemetery like an open-air art museum welcomed us.. You pay fee for entry the difference from Novodevichy. But the number is quite small.. 20 hryvnias to enter the cemetery, and 10 hryvnias to take photos. Total 4 TL.
Almost all of the tombs are decorated with statues. In addition to the graves of politicians, poets and artists, you should definitely see the cemetery where the graves of Ukrainian soldiers are located.. You can go to Lychakiv Cemetery on foot or by taxi.. You pay a fee of 6-7 TL from the center.

Ivan Franko Park
I think the most sad moment in Lviv because the season is winter was when I saw Ivan Franko Park. I never thought that there could be such a big city park in Lviv. Oh, and if the season was spring, if it remained as it was in greenery in my memory. This is the oldest park not only in Lviv but also in Ukraine.. I’m sure this is one of the most popular spots in the spring and summer months.. Ivan Franko Park is a 15-minute walk from Rynok Square.. One entrance faces Ivan Franko University and the other entrance faces Lviv Polytechnic University.. Stryisky Park is one of the biggest parks you should stop by if you happen to be in the summer.. Maybe this way you will be satisfied with the green you are longing for.

Potocki Palace
We took our museum tour in Lviv to Potocki Palace’ we have used since. Since this place is a 10-minute walk from Rynok Square, transportation is also very easy.. Potocki Palace is in the top five among the most beautiful buildings I have seen in Lviv. The palace, which was built with baroque architecture at the end of the 1800s, was built for the Polish Potocki family.. The entrance fee to the palace, which serves as the Lviv Art Museum today, is 60 hryvnia (8 TL), with 30 hryvna to the first floor and 30 hryvna to the second floor.
The interior of the two-storey palace is simply wonderful. However, I cannot say the same for the works.. Apart from what we are used to, oil painting works in colors close to black from the 1700s darken my heart.. In addition to Ukrainian art, works from the Italian, Russian and Polish periods are also on display.. Not only oil paintings but also sculptures are among the works you can see in Potocki Palace.

Although we stayed in Lviv for a week, we did not have enough time to visit some places due to the abundance of places.. If the weather is nice during your travel period, you can go to High Castle to watch the view of the city, and add Shevchenko Park, Arsenal Museum, Lontskogo Prison’, which is another park such as an open-air museum, to your list.
