Where is Kiev?
The second stop of our 10-day trip to Ukraine in July was Kiev.. Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, is located in the north of the country. Located in the middle of Lviv and Kharkiv, Kyiv is also the largest city in Ukraine.. The name of the city in Ukrainian is Kyiv.
How to Get to Kiev?
There are reciprocal flights to Kiev from Turkey every day of the week. You can fly direct from Istanbul to Kiev with Turkish Airlines and Ukraine Airlines. Pegasus Airlines, on the other hand, organizes flights to Kiev only via Ankara.. Unfortunately, flight ticket prices to Kyiv have risen quite a bit.. Being visa-free and being able to enter easily with a chip ID increased the demand for the city, which also affected the prices.. My advice to those who want to go to Kiev is to follow Pegasus’ campaigns.. (although we can’t find cheap tickets as before)
Pegasus is launching 1 Euro, 6 Euro, 9 Euro + Taxes campaigns for flights to Europe, the Balkans and Ukraine.. Of course, the most important way to get cheap tickets from these campaigns is to be fast.. Because the number of seats is limited. For example, in one of these campaigns, I found Ankara-Kyiv round trip tickets for 350 TL and shared them on my Instagram stories.. (In February before the pandemic) Another way to find affordable flights to Kyiv is to look for tickets 8-10 months after Ukraine Airlines. In this way, it is possible to find a round trip flight ticket to Kyiv for an average of 250-300 TL.
I often share air ticket campaigns and cheap flight tickets on my Instagram account (@seyahatimgeldi).. If you want to be informed about travel opportunities, you can follow:)
Updated Information for Those Who Will Travel to Kyiv during the Pandemic Period
Due to the coronavirus Ukraine, which closed its borders for a while, started to lift travel restrictions. On January 15, 2021, Ukraine included Turkey in the list of risk-free countries called “green zone”. Turkish citizens who want to visit Ukraine are exempted from PCR test submission or quarantine application. Those who want to go to Ukraine during the pandemic period have an insurance company registered in Ukraine or a foreigner with a representative office in Ukraine have to have health insurance that covers the costs of Covid-19 treatment, arranged by an insurance company. This health insurance needs to be arranged to cover your travel time. You can check the full details of the entry requirements to Ukraine on the official website of the Embassy of Kyiv. It is not mandatory to wear masks in open areas in Ukraine, but you do need to wear masks indoors and in public transport.
How to Get from Lviv to Kiev by Train?
Lviv’ If you want to go to Kiev by train, you can choose the night train or high-speed train options.. Travel time varies depending on the train you choose.. If you want to travel by sleeper train, you can reach Kiev in 9-10 hours on average.. If you choose the high-speed train option, your journey takes approximately 5-7 hours.. To buy Kyiv train tickets, you can either choose the official site of the Ukrainian railways or buy them from the Omio site.. I mostly buy my tickets from Omio when I travel abroad.. The biggest advantage of Omio, which can buy global plane, bus and train tickets, is Turkish language option. If you want, you can buy your ticket in a few steps by downloading the application to your mobile phone. Note that you will pay much less if you buy your ticket at least one month before your trip.. If you wish, you can read my article about train travel and getting train tickets in Ukraine step by step.
We arrived from Kharkiv to Kiev after a 5-hour high-speed train ride.. We started to feel the crowd as soon as we got off at the Kyiv Train Station.. If you come from relatively smaller cities like Lviv or Kharkiv, the crowds of Kiev may overwhelm you.. It may be a little difficult for you to find the calmness of other Ukrainian cities in Kiev, where approximately 3 million people live.. We preferred Uber, not the taxis waiting in front of the train station, as we were experienced from our previous trips.. After waiting for about 10 minutes, when we got into the car, I was happy that “thank God, we got rid of the crowd”.. We were not yet aware of the apocalyptic crowd waiting for us…

📍Kyiv, Ukraine 🇺🇦 ; The process has not been able to settle down since the day it started to enter Ukraine with an identity card. 🤷🏻 ♀️ Especially in recent months, we have often heard approaches such as not admitting those who have been in the interrogation room for hours, or those who come from the Eastern region, especially among those who have traveled to Ukraine. ⛔️I was taken to the interrogation room because I made my first entry to the country from Lviv, but the process was very easy, I entered the country without any problems after showing the requested documents and the money I took with me (250 dollars for 8 days).. Now the process is a little more detailed.. If you have a Ukraine plan in the near future, be sure to check out the official announcement published by the Embassy of Kyiv.📝 For example, it is now required to have 50 dollars per person per day at the entrance to Ukraine.. An additional five days are added to the length of stay. If you are going to stay in the country for 5 days, you are required to take 500 dollars per person with you.. 💵💵Credit card submission not accepted. Round-trip flight ticket and accommodation printout are among the most important documents, don’t forget to take them with you.🙋🏻♀️. . . . . #seyahatimgeldi #travel #ukraine #kiev #travelingtheworld #stayandwander #worldtrip #gunphotosu #from my lens #aniyakala #cokgezenlerkulubu #hurriyetseyahat #travel #travelblog #traveldaily #gezecekyerler #gezginler #worldtrip #gunnphoto #instayakala #cokgezenlersplaces #hurriyetseyahat #travel #travelblog #traveldaily #gezecekyerler #gezginler #worldtrip #gezginler #beautifultravelspeechlessplacesclubbloggerportspeechlessplaces
Update Note for Entry to Kiev: The entry procedures to Ukraine have been increased, especially as of 2019. If you are planning to go to any city in Ukraine, be sure to read the up-to-date information note prepared by the Embassy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kyiv.. The practices that everyone encounters when it comes to entering the country are different. Some can enter without any query, while others can be sent back by the first plane.
This is a little bit about the passport officer you come across. Still, keep the required documents with you for a smooth travel.
Coinciding with the Crusades Attended by Hundred Thousand People (!)
If you think about it, the first time to go to Kiev You come once and on the day of your arrival the Holy Cross Parade is held, during which Christianity is accepted in Ukraine.. It turns out that every year on July 28, people flock to Kiev from many cities of Ukraine and gather for this special day.. Of course, since we do not speak the language, it took us a long time to understand this event, we asked the Uber driver, but he could not explain anything because he did not speak English.. He left us in front of St. Sofia Cathedral, but the other problem was that the soldiers set up barricades in all directions.. Fortunately, the house we rented was quite close to St. Sofia Cathedral, after a while the soldiers allowed us to pass.. We plunged into the crowd of apocalypse and found our way home from Maps.me, praying not to be crushed.. This being the case, I can’t say that we made a great start to Kiev, but every trip opens the door to a different adventure.. When I think about it now, I still laugh at the fact that we are staying in the middle of the street with our suitcases in our hands 🙂
Accommodation in Kiev: Kyiv Hotels
Accommodation fees in Kiev are more expensive than other cities in the country I can say that. Especially in the summer period, the hotels in the city center started from at least 300 TL per night.. When we thought that we paid 350 TL for 3 nights accommodation in Kharkiv, we decided to rent a house in Kiev.. After doing detailed research on Booking.com, we chose Flat For You, which looks both very central and comfortable.. The biggest advantage was that it was a 10-minute walk from the Maidan.. Although the house is 1+1, it was quite spacious.. We never used the kitchen, but there were all kinds of utensils such as oven, microwave, stove for cooking.. We paid 836 TL for two people to stay for 4 nights.. If you are thinking of going to Kiev for 3-4 people, I would definitely recommend you to rent a house, it will be much cheaper.
If you want to be in the heart of the city, go to Maidan, if you say I’m coming for nightlife, hotels or houses close to Arena City. you can choose. If accommodation options close to the city center exceed your budget, you can also choose places that are 3-4 kilometers away from the center.. Just make sure that your accommodation is close to the metro station, you can easily reach the center by metro.. For example, you can find hostels in the Podil district or Golden Gate area for prices ranging from 25-30 TL per night.. There are metro stations in both areas.. (I have stated the accommodation fees in TL for easy understanding, you can multiply the current exchange rate for Ukraine’s currency UAH)
When to Go to Kiev? Weather in Kyiv
After our one-week winter trip in Lviv, I can say that going to Ukraine in winter is not a logical choice.. Because it’s like buzzzz! After a while walking outside, you start not to feel your feet because of the cold.. If you are planning to go to Ukraine in winter, put your thickest clothes in your suitcase, especially wool and fleece.. Since I went to Ukraine for the first time in winter, I wanted to see the summer, but it is not too hot in summer 🙂 Especially at the end of July, Kyiv saw 32 degrees during the day.. The most beautiful part of the city is the coolness of the evening, you can travel more comfortably.. The ideal time to visit Kiev is May, June, September and October.. But no matter what season you go, don’t forget to take an umbrella with you.. Even though the weather is sunny daily, it can suddenly close and start to rain.
Kyiv City Transportation
I think our most Uber trip so far has been to Kyiv.. While we normally do not walk less than 20 kilometers a day on our trips abroad, we indulged a bit in Kiev due to the distances, the extreme heat and, of course, the cheapness of Uber.. In July 2018, when we traveled, 1 TL was 5.5 UAH.. As our currency lost value against the hryvnia in a week due to the foreign exchange increases in the recent days, the figure dropped to 3.60 today.. I’m not sure if we could spend that much comfortably if we went now.
Kyiv Metro
Public transportation in Kiev is by metro, tram, bus, minibus and funicular. is provided. Metro is one of the most affordable options for transportation in the city.. During our stay in Kiev, we frequently used the subway as well as Uber.. There are 3 main metro lines in Kiev, namely the blue, red and green lines.
For your convenience, you can download the Kyiv Metro” application to your mobile phone for free before your travel and it works offline in Kyiv. With the metro map, you can find your destination in a short time. Station names in the metro are written not only in Cyrillic alphabet, but also in Latin alphabet.. For 2018, 1 boarding coin in Kiev is 8 UAH (1.89 TL).. It is also very easy to get coins from the machines.. You only need to have 1, 2, 5 and 10 UAH with you.. Machines over 10 UAH do not accept. Another little reminder; Do not wonder if I can ride without a ticket like other European countries, there is security everywhere.. Kyiv metro is quite old and very crowded, especially if you come across the commute hours.. The metro opens at 5.45 in the morning, and the services continue at frequent intervals until midnight.. Let me also mention that the transfers are free of charge.
Transportation from Kyiv Airport to the City Center
Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, has two cities like Istanbul. has an airport. If you have a flight to Kiev via Ankara with Pegasus or with Ukraine Airlines, you land at Zhulhany Airport.. Zhulhany is an airport preferred by low-cost airlines such as Sabiha Gökçen Airport in Istanbul.. You can reach your hotel for an average of 80-100 UAH by calling Uber or Uklon from Zhulhany Airport, which you can choose as it is much closer to the city center.. Those who want to go from the airport to the city center by public transport can find the most suitable means of transportation from this link.
Borispol Airport, the largest airport in Kiev, is 30 kilometers away from the city center on average.. Only Turkish Airlines provides transportation to Borispol Airport from our country.. After reaching Kiev from Istanbul after a two-hour journey, you can go to the city center either by Uber or Uklon or by Sky Bus.. With Uber you pay about 200 UAH, while with Sky Bus services you have to pay between 60-100 UAH depending on the distance you will travel.. You can check Sky Bus services and routes here. If you want to explore both the city and its surroundings in more detail by renting a car from Kiev, you can take a look at the car rental options..
Transportation from Kyiv Train Station to City Center
If you are planning to come to Kiev from other cities of Ukraine by train, Kyiv-Pasazhyrsky train The station is located close to the city center.. If you wish, you can buy a ticket for 8 UAH and go to the metro through the terminal and reach your accommodation by metro.. The name of the metro stop at Kyiv Train Station is “Vokzalna”. Located on the red line. If you prefer to use Uber like us, the amount you will give should not exceed 100 UAH.
Purchasing an Internet Package in Kiev
Internet is now an indispensable part of our lives.. Even if we are abroad, it can be tiring to constantly search for Wi-Fi to follow our work or share easily from our social media accounts.. I had no problems with the internet by buying a Ukraine sim card both in my trip to Lviv and in my trip to Kyiv, Kharkiv and Odessa.. The main operators you can choose in Ukraine are Vodafone, Kyivstar and Lifecell. You can buy sim cards from the airport or from the branches of telecommunication companies in the center.. I paid 100 UAH for a sim card with 1 month unlimited internet and 30 minutes of international call.. I had the chance to experience both Vodafone and Lifecell, the internet access speed of both was fine.. If you are a heavy internet user, keep it in mind.
How Many Days to Stay in Kiev?
Although the length of stay in travels is a relative concept, you can enjoy Kiev properly. I recommend those who want to travel with you to plan to stay at least 4-5 nights.. Because the city is very big, there are many beautiful places to visit and see.. There are also those who say, “I traveled in 2 days, it’s over” for Kyiv.. Of course, it depends on the expectation, but we couldn’t reach some places we wanted to see even though we stayed for four nights.. If you don’t have a problem with time, I must say that Kiev is one of the cities that deserves to spend time.
Places to Visit in Kyiv
Kyiv has become my favorite Ukrainian city.. I can even sort like Kyiv-Lviv-Odessa-Kharkiv.. Kyiv is a city full of fun and green all around, which has managed to preserve its historical texture to this extent.. Unlimited nightlife for those who want it, calmness and peace for those who want it… In the evenings, there is a separate show, a separate show on every corner.. Maybe it’s because I came in the summer that I warmed to the city so much.. And once again, I have already added it to my list as one of the cities I want to go to.. Here is the list of Places to visit in Kyiv and things to do in the city from my point of view…
Places to Visit in Kyiv
The Best Start for Exploring the City: Maidan
Maidan Nezalezhnosti aka Independence Square One of the ideal spots to start your trip to Kyiv. Maidan, which I can describe as the heart of the city, is always crowded.. You can find many alternatives for eating and drinking in Maidan, which is the meeting point of Kievans.. In summer evenings, Maidan is a different pleasure.. When music is added to the light shows in the ornamental pools, a visual feast emerges.. You can buy your drink from the market and watch the shows by the pool and have a fun evening.
Maidan is the biggest square of Kiev, so it hosts all kinds of demonstrations and protests.. The square, which carries the sad memories of the Maidan Events as well as the Orange Revolution in 2004, is now trying to erase the traces of the past.. With the advice of dear Zeynep Cansoylu, the Winter On Fire documentary I watched before I went to Kiev deals with the Maidan Events in all its details.. You can find the documentary on Netflix. If your accommodation is close to Maidan, you can visit the city more easily.. To reach Maidan, you can get off at the Maidan Nezalezhnosti stop on the Blue Line.

The Most Famous Street in Kiev : Khreshchatyk
The Khreshchatyk (Kreshatik) stretching across the Maidan is a frequent destination for those who want to shop in Kiev. The number of Turkish restaurants on the street, where many brands come together, is too great to be underestimated.. It is very pleasant to walk here both during the day and in the evening. You can reach Khreshchatyk Street, where you will come across an ice cream and coffee shop every step of the way, by getting off at the Khreshchatyk metro stop on the Red Line.. Keep in mind that if you want to walk the street from one end to the other, it may take more than an hour.

Golden Gate, Main Entrance Gate to the City What would you like to see the ?
The Golden Gate, also known as the Golden Gate, is one of the must-see historical buildings in Kiev.. 11th. The building, which was built as a similar to the city gate in Constantinople in the 19th century, was used as the main entrance gate of the city at that time.. Since the Golden Gate was destroyed over time, it was rebuilt by the USSR in the 1980s in accordance with its original form.. If you are interested, you can visit the museum inside.. There is also a small park next to it where you can take a breather and listen to the street musicians.. You can reach the Golden Gate, whose Ukrainian name is Zoloti Vorota, with a 15-minute walk from Khreshchatyk Street, or you can choose the Zoloti Vorota metro station on the Green Line.

Wandering Between the Golden Domed Cathedrals
If you like to visit religious buildings in the cities you visit, I can say that you have many alternatives in Kiev. The main religious buildings that can be visited in Kiev, the city of cathedrals and monasteries, are as follows:
St. Sofia Cathedral (St.. Sophia Cathedral)
The Saint Sophia Cathedral, which is shown as one of the seven wonders of Ukraine, takes its name from Hagia Sophia. even the cathedral. It was built in the 19th century as a rival to Hagia Sophia.. St. Sofia Cathedral, which draws attention with its baroque architecture, is on the UNESCO World Heritage List.. Since we visited in the early hours, we could not go inside, but if you wish, you can visit the inside of the cathedral.. Entry is paid. If you want to visit the cathedral area, you have to pay 20 UAH, if you want to enter the museum inside the cathedral, you need to pay 80 UAH, if you want to go up to the clock tower and look at the city from above, you have to pay 40 UAH.. St. Sofia Cathedral is a 10-minute walk from the Maidan.
St. Sofia Cathedral Visiting Hours: 10.00-18.00 (09.00-19.00 if you want to go to the Clock Tower)
Click here to reach St. Sofia Cathedral.
Michael’s Golden-Domed Monastery (St.. Michael’s Golden-Domed Monastery)
One of the most eye-catching structures in Kiev with its blue and golden domes is Michael’s Golden-Domed Monastery. Don’t just see the outside, if you have time, make sure to visit the inside.. During our visit, we came across the mass, it has a very different atmosphere.
You can visit Michael’s Golden-Domed Monastery for free.. If you want to turn your route to Podil after visiting the Monastery on the opposite street of St. Sofia Cathedral, you can take the funicular next to it and travel among the lush trees.

Places To Visit In Kyiv: Caves Monastery (Pechersk Lavra)
One of the places I recommend you to see when you go to Kiev is the Caves Monastery. The monastery, which is the oldest worship center in Ukraine, has a total of 18 churches, six of which are underground.. We spent nearly two hours in the Pechersk Lavra, one of the most impressive religious buildings I’ve ever seen.. Because it is spread over a wide area, it is quite large inside.. If you are planning to visit the underground worship centers, I definitely recommend you to plan for half a day.
Caves Monastery, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage List, is accepted as a pilgrimage center by the Orthodox.. Monastery entrance fee. However, as in many parts of Ukraine, you have to pay a separate fee to visit each part.. Entrance fee to the complex is 70 UAH. We said we were students, they didn’t even want us to show ID.
*We entered many museums in Ukraine this way, if you have your student ID from your university years, take it with you.. Few of them require proof of identity, and when they see the ID, they immediately reduce the price without looking at the date.
After paying 35 UAH for the student entrance fee to the Caves Monastery, we suddenly found ourselves in a mystical atmosphere.. It is impossible not to admire the gold embroidery and motifs of the churches among the trees.. It is forbidden to take photos inside the churches, the officer warns with a harsh language if he catches them.. We tried to take a few shots, albeit underhandedly.
My main purpose of coming to the Caves Monastery was to visit the Micro Miniatures Museum, one of the most interesting museums in the world.. The works that can only be seen with a microscope sounded very interesting, while we were in Kiev, we said this is an opportunity and bought our ticket to enter the museum located next to the churches.. Entrance fee to Micro Miniatures Museum is 50 UAH, student 25 UAH. Here, too, we benefited from a ticket discount since we entered with a student ID.
What is not among the works of Ukrainian miniature artist Nikolay Syadristiy… The world’s smallest chessboard, book, portrait, as well as an artist who wears horseshoes! Yes, you heard right. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw it.. Many of his works have already taken their place in the Guinness Book of Records.
When we visited the museum, Nikolay Syadristy was also there, I had the chance to take a souvenir photo with him.. The artist opened an exhibition in our country, even the Avcılar Municipality gave him an Atatürk statue and showed it to us.. We were very touched… If you have come to the Caves Monastery, do not leave without seeing the Micro Miniatures Museum.. Museum is closed on Tuesdays. There are many more museums about Ukrainian art in the monastery.. But all entrance fees are paid.. If you wish, you can go to the Bell Tower and watch the view of Kyiv by paying 60 UAH.. One of the most interesting places of the Caves Monastery is the underground worship centers.. We couldn’t visit because our time was limited.. Caves Monastery is open to visitors every day of the week between 09.00-19.00.. Although the closest metro stop is Arsenalna, you have to take a long walk from there.. You can get there effortlessly with Uber.
Click for the Caves Monastery location.
Creepy Beauty: Statue of the Motherland
After visiting the Caves Monastery, we turn our route to the Second World War Museum to see the Motherland Statue, which is within walking distance.. This is one of the very large complexes.. It is surrounded by statues describing the war years, especially in the garden of the museum.
The Statue of the Motherland (Rodina Mat) on the top of the museum was made in 1981.. The statue, which salutes Kiev with all its grandeur, is from the Soviet Era.. The total length of the statue, which was made to commemorate the Second World War, is 105 meters. You can go up to the statue and watch the view of Kyiv, but the cost was a bit high for us, 300 UAH.. If you want to go up to the middle part, the fee is 50 UAH.
After seeing the Motherland Statue, we wanted to visit the World War II Museum, but unfortunately we coincided on a Monday, so the museum was closed.. Tanks used during the war are on display next to the museum.. You can visit the museum between 10:00 and 18:00 on Wednesday-Sunday.. The entrance fee is 10 UAH, if you want to take photos, you have to pay an additional 30 UAH.
Click for the Statue of the Motherland .
Take a tour in Kiev’s Bohemian District Podil
Places to visit in Kyiv do not stop counting. Podil, one of the oldest settlements in Kiev, surrounded by beautiful historical buildings and colorful houses.. Whether you explore it on foot like us, or take the red trams, you can enjoy this historical district to the fullest.. Getting to Podil is also very easy.. You can get off at the Kontraktova Ploshcha station on the Blue Line, or you can take the funicular.. While coming from Podil to Andryivski Slope, you will see colorful houses.. If you are interested in architecture, you can take a walk between the houses and take a coffee break.. Make sure to add Podil to your Places to visit in Kyiv list.
Click for Podil location.
Very Inviting: Andryivski Hill
Andryivski Hill is one of the most beautiful spots you can add to your list of places to visit in Kyiv.. On Andryivski Slope, which is a paradise for shopping lovers, you can find many souvenirs from magnets to Ukrainian dresses, from matryoshkas to winter socks and gloves.. But let me tell you in advance, the prices are pocket-friendly.. Magnet prices are 80-100 UAH, matryoshka dolls are sold at very high numbers such as 300-500 UAH.
At the end of Andryivski Slope, St. Andreas Church welcomes you.. Like many churches in Kiev, you have to pay to enter.. We just looked from the outside and threw ourselves into Landscape Park.
Andryivski Hill click for location.
Kyiv Parks: Green, Green and More Green
I can make this definition for all the cities I have seen in Ukraine, not just Kiev.. Thanks to the parks located on almost every corner, you can rest your tired body from visiting the city and breathe the fresh air.. On the way to Andryivski Hill, we decided not to leave without seeing Landscape Park, also known as Landscape Alley, and we were amazed by the designs displayed in the park!
This is one of the most enjoyable parks for families with children.. You can have fun with your children with slides, seesaws and swings with colorful designs.. The Landscape Park is quite large, we only visited a part of it.. Next to the park is the National History Museum of Ukraine.. If you wish, you can include this place in your travel list.
If you want to have your eyes full of green in Kiev, you can also visit Taras Shevchenko Park, Mariinskiy Park, Fomin Botanical Garden.

Are You Ready to Go Down to the World’s Deepest Metro Station?
If you want to add a different experience to your Kyiv trip, turn your route to Arsenalna metro station. Because this is the deepest metro station not only in Kiev or Europe, but also in the world! I’m talking about a place that goes down to a depth of exactly 105.5 meters.. At first I thought they were exaggerating, but it really doesn’t stop.
Arsenalna metro station consists of two levels. First you go down from the first part, then you go to the second escalator.. The time you spend on both escalators reaches 5 minutes. Sounds pretty scary, right? If you want to experience this, too, Arsenalna metro station, known to have been built as a shelter during the Soviet period, is located on the Red Line.

Discover the Different Side of the City with the Kyiv Mural Tour
Follow the murals that bring life to cold and gray buildings in Kiev How would you like to visit with a different perspective? If you have a lot of time, hundreds of murals waiting to be discovered in the city are waiting for you.. Ukrainians have found a great solution for this job, you can download the “Kyiv Murals” application to your mobile phone for free and view the mural map of the city.. During our trip, we benefited greatly from this application and had the chance to see the beautiful murals up close.. If you like talking walls, keep it in mind…
Relieve Your Tiredness in the Kyiv Islands
I can hear you say “what island in Kiev”. When there was no sea, the Kievans found the solution to build an island for themselves on the banks of the Dnieper River.. Trukhaniv Island and Hydropark are among the ideal addresses for those looking for an alternative address after finishing the places to visit in Kiev.. Especially if you came to the city in the summer like us, you can spend time on the islands with pleasure.. Moreover, it is very easy to reach both islands.
Trukhaniv Island It is only a fifteen-minute walk from Maidan.. Trukhaniv Island, which you can reach on foot or by bicycle over a pedestrian bridge, is an escape point for Kievites in summer.. The island is full of people swimming in the river, sunbathing on the beach, doing sports in the parks.. Trukhaniv is very popular not only during the day but also in the evening.. You can listen to music in the bars, buy your drink from the market and watch the stars by the river.
The most popular activity of the bridge used to go to Trukhaniv Island is bungee jumping! As you can watch the jumpers, you can go crazy and try this enjoyable activity.. A little adrenaline can add color to your holiday.
Hydropark The second island you can stop by in Kiev. However, I didn’t like it much because it was much more crowded than Trukhaniv.. To reach Hidropark, which is surrounded by hotels, amusement parks and restaurants, simply get off at the Hidropark stop on the Red Line.

Chernobyl was the most memorable trip of my life, not just this year. In 1986, with the quiet and lonely city of Pripyat, where time stopped, I felt like I was on a movie set in Chernobyl.. When I think of abandoned houses, ruined schools, unfinished dreams and lost lives, I say that even though it is not easy to get out of the influence of this place, I am glad I went.🙌🏻Which is your most impressed travel?. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀. . . . #travel #vacation #instatravel #holiday #traveller #travelphotography #traveling #photo #photogram #travelgram #explore #photostagram #nature #fun #igtravel #tourism #instago #denemenlazım #cokgezenlerkulubu #gencgezginler #neredekal #yolçık #chernobyl #chernobil #ukraine #pripyat
Journey to Where Time Stops: Chernobyl Tour
Chernobyl was a place I wanted to see for a long time. While we were in Kiev, we said that this opportunity would not be missed, and with the Chernobyl tour we took from the internet, we had the chance to visit the ghost city of Pripyat, where time almost stopped.. We saw abandoned and dilapidated buildings, we witnessed the traces of nuclear disaster up close.. I have covered this different experience extensively in my Tour of Chernobyl article.. If you are not planning to go to Chernobyl, you can also visit the Chernobyl Museum in Kiev.
How We Planned the Kyiv Travel Route?
Kyiv is a big city, of course. As you can see above, many places to visit and see are waiting for you.. That’s why good planning is essential.. What to Eat in Kiev?
In terms of food and beverage in Kyiv offers numerous options. However, I can say that the prices are a bit high compared to Lviv or Kharkiv.. I would like to share with you the food and beverage recommendations in Kiev, where we tried to explore different places for four days.
*Kyiv food and beverage prices are for the period of July 2018.
Milk Bar
Milk Bar was by far the best place we tried in Kiev. We made a delicious start with poached eggs with tomato sauce and chicken omelette at Milk Bar, where we went for a pleasant Sunday breakfast.. Both taste delicious. I especially loved the chicken omelet! I suggest you add Milk Bar to your list, where we extend the pleasure after breakfast and pamper ourselves with oreo cheesecake.. Poached eggs with tomato sauce 129 UAH, chicken omelette 129 UAH, filter coffee 65 UAH, teapot 65 UAH, oreo cheesecake 80 UAH.

Freshline
As in Kharkiv, we preferred Freshline for a quick breakfast before our Chernobyl tour in Kiev.. The concept of the place is the same as Subway. You can have your own sandwich prepared with the ingredients of your choice and choose to fill your stomach either in the morning or at different times of the day.. A sandwich with all ingredients costs UAH 100, a vegetarian sandwich with four ingredients costs UAH 39. Located opposite Maidan Mc Donalds, Freshline is open 24/7.

Happy Grill Bar
I wanted to try the Happy Grill Bar, one of the indispensable stops of male-to-male Kyiv travels, just out of curiosity :))) Let me explain for those who do not know the specialty of the place, girls in short shorts serve here. As a matter of fact, it doesn’t have many numbers, but if you want to go for fun, it’s quite close to the Poshtova Ploshcha metro station.. Happy Grill Bar has a very rich menu.. We preferred Philadelphia burger and Happy beer.. Hamburger 119 UAH, beer 45 UAH, 100 grams of T-bone 95 UAH.

Veterano Pizza
If you want to try Italian cuisine in Kiev, I recommend Veterano Pizza. The backyard of the place, which is very close to the Maidan, is very pleasant in summer evenings.. We were very pleased with Veterano Pizza, which we discovered by chance as it was a few minutes away from the house we were staying in Kiev.. Margarita pizza 100 UAH, vegetarian pizza 120 UAH, beer 40 UAH.
