Cities have to offer special care especially to the areas where bus stations, train stations and airports are located.. Airports, train stations or bus stations are the first point where guests, short-term visitors or tourists from outside the cities step into the cities.
When we look at the cities in general in Turkey, we can clearly see the reality of being a country dependent on highways and oil.. The first thing that strikes this naked look is the bus stations.. The so-called “intercity bus terminals”. Except for the ones in metropolitan cities, most of these terminals are under the administration of municipalities.. In metropolitan cities, we come across Joint Stock Company structuring.
Most of our bus terminals are deplorable, painted in cold colors, in disrepair, chaotic conditions.. These are the places that have been in the heart of the city over time with traffic problems around them.. Bus stations in many parts of Anatolia are better than metropolitan cities.. In developed countries, direct metro transportation has been provided between the bus station and airport and city centers.. It is very difficult to talk about this outside of Istanbul in our country.
AIRPORTS
As for airports, the private sector’s build, operate, transfer model has recently Our airports with. Istanbul Atatürk and Antalya Airports are the airports with the heaviest passenger flow in Turkey.. Izmir Adnan Menderes and Ankara Esenboğa Airports also had their share of sparkling appearance.
The sovereignty of HAVAŞ, which had a monopoly between the airport and the city center, ended with the decision of UKOME. Now municipalities had the right to direct city buses to airports.. When this is the case, competition was ensured, while passenger transportation fees decreased, the number of flights increased.
It would not be wrong to say that airports are the most well-kept places when it comes to transportation in Turkey.. However, it is not possible to say the same for airports other than these few major airports.. They still have long ways to reach.
The arteries connecting the airports to the city are sparkling.. One’s heart is opened on these roads where the people who come and go see the city for the first time.. Warming up for the city. That cold mess around the bus stations doesn’t exist here.
RAILWAYS
Railways are our mode of transportation that has been neglected for years.. The railways, which were not included in the transportation plans after the first 10 years of the Republic, have recently come to the fore with high-speed train moves.
However, when we look at the train stations throughout the country, the train stations and their surroundings generally seem to appeal to the lowest part of the cities.. Bars, pavilions, low-level entertainment venues are clustered around the stations.. I’m not even talking about the hotels that are called prostitution hotels.
When this is the case, the environment that welcomes the passengers entering a city from the train stations does not take on a very elegant and peaceful form.
The stations and their surroundings also require serious regulations.
SEAWAYS
The fact that seaways have a very small share in our transportation and that they are not used much in intercity transportation in Turkey has reduced the importance of seaways.
<
As there is no sea between Anatolian cities, sea transportation is not possible, but especially the transportation of IDO in the Sea of Marmara is admirable.. In this transportation, we should not forget the well-being and order of the piers.
Our ports providing international transportation in the Aegean and Mediterranean also provide great service to tourism.. Again, the operation and maintenance of these ports paints a positive picture for the image of our country.
As a result, if we spruce up the train stations and bus stations a little, we will also correct the important first impressions a little bit.
