Eating and drinking in India cannot be without mentioning. My first word for Indian food : You will be very hungry for the first 2-3 days. You won’t get used to the smell of the country’s streets, restaurants and food. I’m talking about a place where pigs are passing by on the street.. Think about where you’re going. 3. day by day, you will start to get used to living like one of them.. So, you will gradually start to get to know the food culture.. Well, what to eat in India? Especially a carnivorous nation like us, what do they eat and drink in India?
Indian Food
Indian food is beautiful. is diverse. It is very spicy. There is no meat, but chicken is consumed. As long as it is hygienic, there is no problem in eating. Indians eat with their hands.
Note : Meat is consumed especially in luxury hotels and usually costs around 10 dollars per serving.
Street food is very common, but it’s almost free. But my humble advice is to stay away from street food.
Let’s say you are exhausted from hunger.. Then you will apply to foreign companies in the country.. Starbucks, Burger King, KFC, Dominos and MC donalds companies, which are in abundance, can be your savior close to starvation.. Because one of the biggest questions on the minds of many India enthusiasts is “What will we do if we are hungry?” the question is. Let’s get this done.
1. You will eat Breakfast in India
“Chapati”. Unleavened bread baked on the sheet or in a pan. Or you can eat at “Paratha”. It looks like a pancake. Your other option would be eggs.. You can cook it in the pan. By the way, they also prepare English and American breakfasts in many luxury hotels.. FYI.
At the same time, they have pita like our yufka known as “Roti“. What you see in the photo above is actually a rotisserie that looks like Pita.. It is the most satisfying of Indian food when you are hungry.
2. Lunch and Dinner
“Thali” is the national dish of India and the most famous of all Indian dishes.. Table d’hote comes in a tray and is the type where different dishes are presented for tasting.
These dishes; can consist of soup, potato dish, vegetable dish, chapati and rice. Do you know how much is usually? Around 30-70 Rupees.
So think like 1.5-3 TL. You should also try Tandorii. Fish-chicken cooked on the fire in the well. It is quite delicious. And believe me, it’s one of the rare dishes in the world where you can eat so much for so cheap.
Also, don’t leave Goa without eating colorful seafood and squids. For 300-500 Rupees per person, you will be full. Personally, as a friend from Fethiye, you will never regret seafood in India.
3. Korma
This is actually a kind of cream sauce dish.. It usually has meat in it and it is one of the very delicious Indian Foods.
Even “ It is even said to come from the term “roasting”. It is a dish especially preferred by those who like sauces.
4. Tandoori
Write the word “Chicken tandoori” down. You can hear it in many countries and follow it every time you hear it.. Why ? Because it will be the address you will be full of.
Do you know what’s actually happening? You know grilled chicken. But both cheap and delicious. It is also very popular among Indian Food.. But the guys use such nice sauces that the flavor is just that.. I’m sure you’ll like it.
Manners at meal : They like to have a drink before or after a meal. Because when the food is spicy, if you drink something, it will not relax you, in fact, it may disturb you.
Therefore, it is necessary to know this while eating in India.. Indians eat food using their fingers like forks and spoons. They usually roll the rice into balls with their hands and handle the food using their hands.. I can guarantee that the fork and knife are dirtier.
5. Curry
“What is curry ?” : There is basically no such thing as curry sauce. It is an English term that refers to the spices used by the Indians in fish, meat and vegetables.. So my friend, every dish has its own unique spice mix.. This spice mix is also called “curry”.
In this country, against animals an incredible “protection” prevails. In some beliefs, there is a belief that “Those whose animals will eat in this world, and animals will eat in the next world.”. So, especially if you’re going out to dinner with an Indian, before you go, always keep in mind that you are in India and how sensitive he is about this Indian cuisine (see Wikipedia on Indian cuisine).. Indian food is good, but culture comes first…

Finally, let’s talk about Alcohols and Beverages: The national drink of the country is “tea”.. It can be served in small cups with milk, plain or sugar.. Kingfisher beers are especially popular in Goa but beer is expensive in India. Alcohol is also easy to find in Delhi and Mumbai.. Usually around 1-2 dollars. I think you can easily take out your daily food and beverage expenses for 5-10 dollars a day.
