Yalıköy, one of the beaches of Çatalca opening to the Black Sea, is a place where tourism is not developed enough, although it has a beach longer than 10 km.. Although one of the most important reasons for this is considered to be the short season, I think there is a more important reason, which is the proximity of Yalıköy to Istanbul and therefore people generally prefer to come for a day trip.
Yalıköy is in this region. an old Greek village like the other villages in the area, and the old name of Yaliköy is Podima; Means “boot” or “the place to step” in Greek.. It is said that it used to be frequented by pirates and they came to Yalıköy to have fun.. Its history is so old.
Yalıköy Hotels and Restaurants
While the number of hotels, restaurants and similar facilities that are not needed much due to the weight of daily tourism is very low, the number of markets where you can find everything is high.. There are 2 hotels and a few hostels, but their prices are literally insane, so unfortunately we cannot recommend them.. Picnic is the best option for food, but if you come unprepared, there are a couple of artisan restaurants and buffet-style places where you can eat toast etc.. Even if the number of places to eat is small, you will not go hungry.
What to do in Yalıköy?
The number of days you can say the sea was beautiful during the whole summer does not exceed 10.. That’s why swimming should not be your priority when coming to Yalıköy.. Camping and resting in the forest by the sea is the best activity to do in Yalıköy.. Of course, if you go in the middle of summer, it may not be possible to relax because of the crowd, so I say you prefer the beginning or the end of summer.. If you go when I say, it will be very quiet and secluded, you can find peace.. If you are thinking of swimming in the sea, definitely check the weather before you come; If there is a north wind, you will not be able to swim in the sea because of the wave, if there is a southwestern wind, you will be lucky, the sea will be calm.. Of course, do not be deceived by its calmness and open up too much, because the sea has a depth far above what it should be, since a lot of pebbles are taken from here.. If you were to ask if there are places to visit in Yalıköy, there is no place for you to wander around except the sea and nature.. For this reason, it is not a place to stay for a very long time.
Let’s not forget to add the following; There used to be a summer residence of many famous people in Yalıköy, I heard that Emel Sayın often came to his villa here.. Celebrities such as Cüneyt Arkın and Beyaz were said to have homes here, but when they were discovered and everyone started coming here, they fled too.
