A Wonderful Gaudi City, Barcelona Travel Guide and Places to Visit in Barcelona:
If you tell us a city that can be seen and lived in, this is Barcelona is strong for us. We warmed up to this city very much because of its spacious streets, fun-loving people and the fact that it doesn’t come out after 10 pm like a classic European city, and because of its scientific feature that we will write about now! Also, in our country, there is just as much chaos in Barcelona in order to go to Barcelona for the bodies that lived in koas and not be a fish out of water! Consider the more tidy, less crowded but more livable one of Istanbul. In short, if you are going to a city for its ‘soul’, you will love Barcelona very much.
Is there nothing wrong with it? of course there is. Due to the economic crisis in Spain, the city has become insecure.. Some areas become dangerous especially at night. You don’t even realize which area is dangerous because the city is lively and energetic..
And of course there is the case of Catalans wanting full independence.. Barcelona is on the border with Spain, but Barcelonans call themselves Catalan and speak their own language, Catalan.. Although the Catalans made the biggest contribution to the country’s economy, they were the ones who were most affected by the crisis and their desire for full independence was strengthened when some of the Spaniards were treated as “lazy”.
Long Live the Brotherhood of the Peoples of the World! We say and return to our topic.
Barcelona Travel Notes
When to go to Barcelona, how long to stay in Barcelona and is Barcelona expensive?
Considering that the air and water of Spain are similar to ours, you can decide when to go according to the activities you want to do in the city.. Don’t think, ‘When the moon says the Mediterranean climate, my dear, April-May, it gets hot there anyway’.. We stayed in this city between 25-30 April last year and not a single day has passed without rain or mud! Since we took only dresses and shorts with us like a cake, we had a good flu on the way back, it’s from us to say
Yes, it’s true, Barcelona is better in summer. The city becomes beautiful with activities by the beach, endless night entertainment and the sea-sand-sun trio.. But on top of that, the trio of crowd-doubling prices-hot hot is added! It is up to you to choose between them.. If you choose to come in winter, don’t think that the city will be less fun, you will see that the city has not lost anything from its entertainment part, and you will even be happy to see that you wait less in the entrance lines to the museums! As we said, the choice is yours, just go
As for “How long to stay in Barcelona?”, unlike most European cities, Barcelona is not a city that you can finish in a day or two on foot. and it is useful to allocate at least 4 days. If you are coming in summer time, you can spend 1-2 days enjoying the sea and sand and extend the time.
As for the expensive part, yes, Barcelona’s La Rambla and Plaça Catalunya
Extremely touristy streets like strong> expensive and inflated places are very. When you sit around here, you are likely to pay 10 Euros for a Sangria and say, ‘What is this, like juice?’. But on a pre-researched and well-planned trip, you can have more fun by hanging out at the places where the locals go, as well as include places like locals and spend less.. This is how we did it as a local friendly couple
We said that some prices were inflated in Barcelona, unfortunately, these include museums and famous Gaudi houses.. Even if you buy your tickets online and in advance, we regret to say that you will have to pay at least 15-16 Euros for each entry.. It is necessary to open the mouth of the pouch here.
Transportation from Barcelona Airport to the city and of course Barcelona city transportation:
Barcelona El Prat Airport is considered close to the city. You can be in the city center in 20 minutes with the airport shuttle called Aerobus and the price is 6 Euros.. You can also use the night bus according to your metro and landing time.. These are again around 6 Euros. So if you ask us, there is no need for a taxi.. (Long live public transport)
City transportation in Barcelona is very regular. One-way metro ticket 2.15 Euros. If you buy the card named T-10 with 10 prints, the price is 10.50 Euros and you can use the card together with two people.. You can also go to the airport by metro and back with this card.. If 10 editions won’t stop us, if you say you need unlimited transportation, you can get unlimited transportation cards for 2 days, 3 days, 4 and 5 days.. Their prices are 12 Euros for 2 days and 18 Euros for 3 days.. We bought the 10 edition one and it was enough for 5 days. (Here consider the condition of our feet every evening :))
As an additional information, if you are traveling from another European city to Barcelona by Ryan Air and other Low Cost If you are flying with companies, they are likely to drop you off at Girona Airport. This means that you will take a separate airport bus from Girona to Barcelona city centre, which will cost you 15 Euros one way plus 1 and a half hour bus ride.. 80% of Ryan Air’s Barcelona flights land in Girona. We realized this at the last moment and bought our ticket from Vueling Airlines, a Spanish ‘Low Cost’ company.. Although we arrived with the cockpit door of the plane open(!) and the pilots took the plane to auto and courted the stewardesses along the way, at least we were able to land at Barcelona El Prat Airport!
Where to Stay in Barcelona:
In this topic we will make you sad. Although you have many hotel options in Barcelona, unfortunately hotel prices are high.. Extra high around Plaça de Catalunya and La Rambla. Also, do not the hotels have a problem of filling up months in advance! We planned the holiday at the last minute and saw the hotel prices, we changed our route to hostels and stayed at ‘Don Mustache Hostel’ very close to Plaça de Catalunya (it was one of the best hostels we have ever stayed at). we don’t hesitate to say). The staff of the hostel was very friendly and we were very pleased with the location of the hostel.. Although we were nervous at first in terms of cleaning, we had no problems.. Thus, by paying 25 Euros per person per night, we solved the accommodation issue quickly and without pain.. If you want to choose a hostel, it was a hostel that we can definitely recommend.. If you don’t want a hostel, you can check out the hotels in the ‘Plaça Espanya’ area.. Prices are more affordable and you can easily get to the city center by metro.
If you want to open your mouth, we can recommend the El Prat region.. For those who go in the summer, the “Barcelonata” beach is just right.. Have nightly fun in the Gothic district! You can also consider this place among the accommodation options.
If we have solved the accommodation issue, we can move on to the sightseeing part!
Places to Visit in Barcelona:
When it comes to visiting Barcelona, architect Antoni Gaudi’s works are waiting for you. Gaudi, who is also the architect of Barcelona’s current urban identity, contributed so much to Barcelona that La Sagrada Familia was left unfinished due to Gaudi’s death, for almost a century, “what architects wanted engineers”, but his work Sorry, they couldn’t complete it.
Gaudi is one of the pioneers of the art movement known as ‘Art Nouveau’, and to put it simply, it is an art movement in which elegant decorative ornaments come to the fore and folds and floral patterns are frequently used.. According to a rumor, when Gaudi graduated from university, his teachers said, “We are not sure whether we are giving a diploma to a real madman or a genius.” You can better understand why they said that while visiting the works.:)
Gaudi’s death tragicomic. In his last years, he devoted himself entirely to the construction of his greatest work, the Sagrada Familia Church, and one day he was crushed to death by a tram while walking back to see his work in full.. Get it tram! At that moment, Gaudi must have swore a good curse!
Then we wouldn’t be doing ourselves justice if we say Sagrada Familia
the symbol of Barcelona. Since Gaudi died before completing the Sagrada Familia, the construction of the church is still going on, and the priests said they would only accept individual donations from the public, although large companies offered to sponsor and complete it.. With this aspect, we were happy to think that he was showing a resistance against capitalism. 🙂 As such, Gaudi’s 100. It is planned to be completed in 2026, the anniversary of his death.
Once, this is a very large building.. It’s hard to see the size of it by looking at the photos before you go because it’s impossible to fit in one frame.. Each figure on its exterior has a different story.. In some places, the birth of Jesus is told, in some places there are mysterious numbers.
You can reach here from Plaça de Catalunya on foot or by metro.. The Sagrada Familia stop is right in front of it.. Its construction continues, don’t think it’s not finished yet.. Indeed, the use of natural light and acoustics in the church is wonderful and worth seeing.. Also, if you don’t buy your ticket online, there will be a queue of at least 3 hours waiting for you at the entrance and you may not even be able to get inside! Audio Guide and entrance fee is around 25 Euros in total.. We told you that Barcelona is expensive
Also, if you don’t have a fear of heights, you can also take the elevator up to the towers inside.. (You have to go down on foot when you go down alone.) Although Asya doesn’t like heights very much, we went out just so that we wouldn’t get caught in it and we were able to capture a few nice shots!
Casa Batllo
We are here with another Gaudi work! Gaudi designed this house, located on one of the busiest streets of Barcelona, ‘Passeig de Gracia’, for a wealthy family and said that he got his inspiration from nature.. The man said ‘Art Nouveau’
When it comes to the exterior of the house, it is said that ‘Straight lines belong to human beings, curves belong to God’.
The entrance is 22.5 Euros and the ticket is again you need to buy online. When the entrance of Casa Mila, another Gaudi house 5 minutes away from Casa Batllo, was 20.5 Euros, we thought, ‘Shall we visit both of them now, do we save money’, but since Umut is an architect, the building He likes traveling and he’s gone!
If you want to buy tickets to Casa Batllo online, you can check here.
Casa Mila (La Pedrera)
This is another Gaudi house located in Passeig de Gracia (that looks like there are fairy chimneys made of cream on the top).
This is the Casa, which is the official name for the building and its official name. Pere Mila, the businessman who gave Mila, liked Gaudi’s first Casa Batllo very much and wanted a similar job.. However, they were sued when he did not give Gaudi’s money because he was not satisfied with the increasing costs as the project progressed.. (We were just wondering where this city got so much money to give to Gaudi).
You live ‘Art Nouveau’ from the moment you enter Casa Mila until you leave.. You can find information about all of Gaudi’s works, especially on the rooftop where the Gaudi exhibition is located, and it is possible to see which building he was inspired by what.. The student fee is 16.5, long live a student!

Park Güell
A day does not pass, Gaudi works were not finished, welcome to another Gaudi work. This park, located on the hilltop of Barcelona, was frankly the only place Gaudí disappointed us in Barcelona. Getting distracted from the ‘lower layers of the city’, he went to Gaudi to create a settlement outside of Barcelona, where only the cream of the city would live (Hmm, this residence life is not so foreign to us Istanbulites). While it was being planned to build 60 houses, both Gaudi’s death and those who could afford to live here found Gaudi’s designs too ‘daresome’ and the location of the residence far from the city.. Only three houses were built.
Park Güell has two parts. The first is the part with free and real parking, the second is the part where the entrance is paid (8 Euros) and the buildings are.
The part where the entrance is paid is nice yes.. The architecture is worth seeing, the curved stone benches, the colorful mosaics and the lizard “spring” in the middle with water flowing from its mouth is beautiful, but the one waiting for a “park” disappointed us.. Naturally, no Barcelonans hang out in this path-like park, which has slopes all over the place, and you, as a tourist, constantly go up and down.
It is said that Gaudi lived in one of the houses in the park, and you can visit the house by paying extra money. We didn’t like the park anyway, we never even visited the house.
Anyway, this was the last Gaudi work we’re going to tell.. We are taking to the streets without further ado. As you know, life is on the street in Barcelona!
But we should add that Gaudi’s contribution to architecture, and especially to Barcelona, is endless.. We remember him with love and mercy. Best regards, Gaudi!!
Life is on the street in Barcelona! – The Most Fun Places in Barcelona!
La Rambla
La Rambla is one of the liveliest streets you can walk in Barcelona! You can recognize this street from the Statue of Columbus’ at the end (or beginning) of the street. You always see street painters, peddlers, souvenir shops, musicians and mimes on the street.. In addition, since the side streets on its right and left lead to other squares of the city, it is impossible not to fall here!
In this street, ‘La Boqueria’, the most famous market place of Barcelona, is established.. Colorful, gooey (we said in a good sense) fruit, on the other hand, there are different sea creatures, all kinds of offal and candies.. It was perfect for those who like to snack while standing up like us.. You can get authentic fruit cocktails for 2 Euros.. This square, where you can experience shopping in the upper dimensions (!), is also the meeting point of the subways.. We compared it to Taksim Square as it is a protest place for Catalans.. (Oh where are those old May 1s )
Buses to the airport also depart from here.
Passeig de Gracia
We said that all streets in Barcelona are connected to each other. is not it? This is another central point stretching to one end of Plaça de Catalunya and also where luxury world brands are located.. It is also known as the most expensive street in Spain Well, let’s make this Bagdat Street too!
El Born (Gothic Quarter)
We’re here, our favorite Barcelona to our region. No offense to other squares, but we liked hanging out here the most.. This area, which includes the famous huge cathedral and its surroundings, got its name because of the gothic architecture ceiling in this area It is even known as the place where Picasso was most inspired during his time in Barcelona.
Small pubs from all over, Sangria venues and live music are bursting, and tapas are all around.. If you want to watch Flamenco, there are much cheaper shows in and around Plaça de Catalunya.. Also, gift shops are much more convenient and cute.. Well, good luck! (Of course, we will write about the best places to eat, drink and dance separately.)
Yes, we are aware that summer is not over! We’ve come to our last area, it’s over!
Here’s Port Vell and Barcelona! :
Port Vell is Barcelona’s port area and includes a shopping mall called Maremagnum, a restaurant, a cinema and a huge aquarium. We tended towards Maremagnum, but we did not enter the aquarium.. We think we have some kind of aquarium and zoo phobia.. Long live freedom for all living things!
As you can imagine, when you go straight from Port Vell, Barcelonata will come your way.. In this seaside area, which is a summer resort, you can sit in the cafes and drink your Sangria, hang out with your bike, or if you went in the summer, you can swim and fall asleep on the sands in the evening.. Since we went to Barcelona at the end of April, the weather was ICE and we just passed by with our necks bent.. And we consoled ourselves by saying, ‘Well, my dear, even if we come in summer, the sea is not clean, it is full of jellyfish’.. We’re not kidding, by the way, really, even in summer, there isn’t a lot of sea to swim in.. We are Barcelona’s liars.
Oh, the squares are over! Let’s get a little cultured, we come to the museums!
Picasso Museum
This museum in the Gothic district of Barcelona was opened with the donation of more than 1700 works of Picasso. you can see Picasso’s development for yourself as he shows you his works. What we will say is that even if you don’t like Picasso, you won’t regret going.. (I guess so.) Here for the website.
And of course, if you don’t buy the ticket online, there’s a good chance you’ll faint while waiting at the door and come back.. Entry is 12 Euros and is closed on Mondays.
MACBA
Every city has a Museum of Modern Art, but Barcelona doesn’t? This is the modern art museum of Barcelona.. We would like to tell you about the museum in a nice way, but we will not be able to say good things about its exhibitions because it did not have a tangible exhibition when we went.. “Modern Art” is tough friend. We may not be art critics, but we are the people; “Art is for the People.” dislike-sit-zero. However, for the sake of the famous architect Richard Meier, go at least for the architecture.
Fundacio Joan Miro
Are you one of those who can’t find what you’re looking for in MACBA? Fear not, we will take you to the Fundacio Joan Miro Museum of Art. If you can go over the hills to this museum, the main test of which is to find the location of the museum, a happy ending awaits you!
The painter Joan Miro, who is the symbol of Barcelona together with Gaudi and Picasso>, is a little bit of this duo. Although it lagged behind, its museum is definitely worth a visit if you ask us.. There is also the cutest souvenir shop we have ever seen in a museum.
To go to this museum located on Muntjuic Hill’, you can start climbing up and down the metro around Plaça Espanya.. There is also a funicular for those who don’t want to climb, so we shouldn’t have frightened you.
The museums are finished too! Finally;
Camp NOU Experience(Nou Camp Stadium as you know)
This stadium-touring activist is the reason why many people come to Barcelona on its own, so we decided not to skip writing it Camp Nou If you take this tour, which is called Experience, you can go to the famous Camp Nou Stadium and visit the empty stadium, you can see the changing rooms and other rooms.. If there is a match that day, the stadium is emptied 3 hours in advance. Of course, there is the pleasure of watching the match at the Nou Camp.. It is obvious that we are a society that loves to watch matches, it must be something else to watch at the Nou Camp! If you have a plan to watch a Barcelona match at Nou Camp, you can easily get tickets from Pop Event & Travel.
Sorry, we forgot there is Tibidabo Hill! This is Barcelona’s highest peak. On this hill with a magnificent view is the Sagrat Cor Church and Barcelona’s oldest amusement park! Considering how many museums, houses and cathedrals we visited in Barcelona, of course we went here for the amusement park.. The only bad thing about Tibidabo is that it is difficult to go and you have to spend almost a full day here considering the time you will spend in the amusement park.. Since we turned the city upside down for 4 days, we planned the last day as an Amusement Park in Brunch + Tibidabo in Barcelona.. The amusement park was not at all, but the Ferris wheel was very charismatic.. We wouldn’t want to say that the daily amusement park ticket is 28 Euros per person, but…
Well, where are these Tapas and Sangria restaurants, we’ve got you covered!
Barcelona Food & Drink Guide
Barcelona Eating – Drinking in:
Tapas-Sangria Moroccan
We came to the best part for us to write. We, who are wrapped in doner kebab 24/7 because of the Germans’ distaste for food in Germany, almost passed out in Barcelona! As you know, we ate everything we saw.. Would we eat again? Yes. The reason is very simple. The guys know this business!
It is possible that you will come across a paella seller, two tapas sellers, and three sangria restaurants on every street you enter in Barcelona.. If you do a little research in advance and go, you can both avoid eating at stake and fabricated places and enjoy eating and drinking like locals.
Well then.
Lizarran: We were never forgiven where we saw this tapas-restaurant chain. These Lizarrans, which you can find everywhere in Barcelona from Plaça de Catalunya to the side streets, offer great tapas ranging from 1 Euro to 3 Euro each, their sangrias are good and they have a constant ‘happy hour’ on weekdays. they have. Our score here is 10.
Although it’s not a place to hang out for a long time in the evening, it’s the perfect place to sit and have a tapas or two during the day.. You buy tapas at your own discretion, you collect toothpicks, and in the end you pay according to the number of toothpicks
La Pizza Del Born: In this pizzeria in the Gothic district, there are more locals than tourists. you hang out and have a lot of fun for very cheap. Large pizza slices are 3 Euros, and Sangria in half-liter glasses are 3-4 Euros. Do not think like the logic of preparing cocktails in Turkey, men fill at least 2/3 of the glass with alcohol and you can’t even realize how much you drink in that crowd.. We ate dinner here 2 of the 5 nights we spent in Barcelona and missed a little too much the second time, as Asya’s South African classmate next to us said “Too much alcohol for my system!” and ran to her hotel before the night started.. If he knew Turkish, we would send him our love from here.
Paella we can say that it is a kind of bolemos Spanish rice.. Seafood ones are very popular. But if you want to try a dish that is as popular as it is puffed and around Plaza de Catalunya, you will have to shell out 25 Euros for a paella.. We tried and liked it in a small restaurant called ‘Paella Bar Boqueria’. When we said we liked it, we didn’t have high expectations anyway.. We wouldn’t want to say here’s the rice you know, but here’s the rice you know exactly. If you want to open your bag a little and eat right at the place, you can try ‘7 Portes’.
Can Dende: This is a “bruch” place we discovered by chance.. Although it is a bit expensive, we said that if we return without eating ‘Eggs Benedict’, we will stay inside and we sat down because the place looked very sweet to our eyes.. We tried pancakes, french toast and eggs benedict.. We also liked them all. Pancakes and toasts were 7 Euros and Eggs Benedict was 12 Euros.
Satan’s Coffee Corner:Don’t be fooled by the name of this place, contrary to its name, it is an extremely cute coffee shop in the gothic district.. If you happen to pass by the Gothic part during the day, you can stop by and have a coffee.
Granja Petitbo: There is probably nothing more than a “brunch” place in Barcelona, but this is the place we like more than the others.. Great food and coffee. We can only have one criticism and that is a very hipster place; That being the case, it’s obligatory here to post a picture of coffee and dessert taken from above on Instagram
Brunch and Cake by the Sea:You know, those wonderful plates that are put on Instagram (or even # those with the hashtag foodporn) this is just such a place! This place in Barcelonata area was designed for Sunday breakfast lovers.. The plates and portions are very large, the service is excellent, and if you’re tired of traveling and want to have some fun, don’t miss it.. You can also order the famous spanish potato ‘Patatas Bravas’ (fried french fries with gravy) here.
El Nacional: Close to Passeig de Gracia El Nacional has a different concept. There are 4 restaurant sections with different concepts in 4 different corners of the very spacious place, and under the same roof, one of them sells seafood and creates a table design accordingly, while the other corner of the place is arranged as an Italian restaurant.. Although it is a bit confusing at first, you can eat pasta in the Italian section and then snack on the tapas section (We take those who can never decide what to eat for dinner here). There are also 2 long drinking bars in the middle of the place, we think those who are confused while walking around the restaurant are sitting here and drinking beer.. Also, although it looks very stylish, the prices are not exaggerated either.. You can have a dinner here. We paid 25 Euros for two pastas and two wines.
Catalina Café:Very close to the Picasso Museum, this café serves very good cocktails and tapas.. The waiters are just as friendly.. We think this is one of the places where you won’t regret sitting down.
Maka Maka: Very close to Port Vell, this hamburger restaurant is a student-friendly place you know and was opened for the crowd of people who suddenly get hungry while returning without having fun at night. as if. No matter what time you go, the place is full of students and you can eat a hamburger for 6 Euros and be full.
Monkey Factory:This is a cocktail plus music venue and is open until late at night.. Crowds are not a problem for us, if you think we can dance and have a lot of fun, heh, this is such a place! Since it’s open late, you can have dinner somewhere first, have a nice sangria, and come here around 11pm (at least that’s what we did).
Dow Jones:Other we know. The reason is a little different from the bars, the inside is “Wall Street” that you know, and you are the “broker” there.. What we can say is that there is a beer exchange inside, while the price of the beer increases if the demand for a beer is high; Low demand beer prices drop. In other words, you can buy Guinness for 2 euros, which you buy for 5 euros.. It can be a fun place when it’s crowded on weekends.. we had a lot of fun.
Let’s talk about a place inside of us that we couldn’t go to.. Although we like parks and gardens, we couldn’t go to the famous ‘Park de la Ciutadella’, because when we were in Barcelona, we didn’t want to go for a walk in the park and sink into the mud because the sky was pierced.. But we heard that it is a very beautiful park and there is a very beautiful lake in the park.. If you go in nice weather, you can also consider a tour here.
We know this time the guide is a bit long, we’re closing by talking about Flamenco! As you know, flamenco is a dance specific to the Andalusia region and flamenco venues in Barcelona are 90 percent tourist tricks.. Even the dancers in most venues do not come from Andalusia.. That’s why we left watching this beautiful dance the day we go to Andalusia and we never messed with the flamenco venues in Barcelona.. If you still want to go despite all the bad news, you can find the best of the bad by searching TripAdvisor
We as a family loved Barcelona with good or bad, we can even say more than “loved it”. Barcelona treated us very well in 5 days. We hope it treats you well too.
5. At dawn we set out for Mallorca.
With love.
