Where is Trabzon Uzungol ?
Uzungol is located in the Uzungol Mahallesi of Trabzon’s Çaykara district. Maybe you remember from geography class, landslide barrier lakes.. Here Uzungol is a landslide set lake. In other words, it was formed by the rocks falling from the mountain slopes blocking the Haldizen creek.. Uzungol’s deepest place is 15 meters. In terms of area, Uzungöl has 1.000m length, 500m width, 20 ha. But unfortunately, due to the recent construction, there is a decrease in these dimensions.. If the construction continues at this rate, we will start to refer to this place as Küçükgöl instead of Uzungöl!
Do you know, Uzungöl has been enlarged by 67% in terms of area with the cleaning of dirt in 2004.. It is also a part of the Uzungol Nature Park, which was announced on October 3, 1989.. Uzungol is located close to the provinces of Trabzon and Rize.. Uzungöl, which is 96 km from Trabzon and 20 km from Çaykara district, to which it is affiliated, has a high potential in terms of tourism, especially in summer months, many companies organize trips to Uzungöl.. Uzungöl’s road is asphalt and hassle-free. Just a little twist. Let’s move on to the alternatives of the question of how to get to Uzungöl.
Reaching Uzungol by Private Vehicle
Specialties like us If you go to Uzungol with your car, you will be very comfortable.. Because after reaching Uzungol, it is necessary to go to certain places.. Since the hotel we stayed in is in Araklı, we used the Trabzon – Rize coastal road as the road.. If you come from the center of Trabzon, you have to follow the route as Yomra – Arsin – Araklı – Sürmene – Of – Çaykara – Uzungöl . You can also read my travel notes about Sürmene while you are visiting Sürmene.. On the road I mentioned above, you can see every shade of green, the beauty of the sea, and all the gifts of nature such as tea gardens.
If you are coming to Uzungöl from the Rize side, you need to pass from the district of Of to Çaykara district.. So you don’t need to go as far as Trabzon.. After passing Çaykara, you can reach Uzungöl by going 20 km.. It is already closer to Rize Uzungol.
Reaching Uzungol by Bus
From different provinces by bus To reach Uzungol, you need to come to Trabzon Bus Station. There are reciprocal bus services to Trabzon from many of our cities.. After arriving in Trabzon by bus, you need to take the Çaykara Tour Minibuses located in Trabzon Merkez Çömlekçi Mahallesi to reach Uzungöl.. A shuttle service departs from Çömlekçi to Uzungöl every hour of the day in average 20 minutes during the summer months and every two hours in the winter.
If you want to reach Uzungöl from Rize and Artvin, what you need to do is Trabzon Coming all the way to the town of Of and from there to Uzungol by taking the Uzungol shuttles.. As far as I know from Rize and Artvin, there are no direct flights to Uzungol except for private tourism companies..
Reaching Uzungol by Plane
The most practical way to reach Uzungol is by air transportation. Of course, if you are coming to Uzungol from a far place. The closest airport to Uzungol is Trabzon Airport. There are regular flights to Trabzon Airport from many cities of Turkey.. After arriving at the airport, you can choose one of the ways I listed above to reach Uzungol.
Best View Point in Uzungol
While we are in Uzungol, we think about the best place to take pictures in Uzungol with the influence of social media.. In order to help you in this regard, as I mentioned above, the best view points in Uzungöl are the parts at the back of Uzungöl Mosque.. Apart from that, if you want a beautiful Uzungol view from a different angle, I can recommend DKMP Observation Terrace. Let me have the locations and photos from you…:) I leave the location of the best view point for Uzungöl on Google map here
Uzungöl DKMP Observation Terrace
DKMP Observation Terrace, which overlooks Uzungol from a very beautiful place with a view. You can reach this observation terrace by car or by using the stairs that go up from the lakeside.. If you come by car, the road is a bit narrow, for your information.
Generally speaking, the observation terrace we saw in Uzungöl was one of the best viewing terraces we have seen so far.. Because this viewing terrace is not glass and was compatible with nature.. The Dkmp observation deck is also located at a well-chosen location.. You can take lots of photos here.. We wanted to fly a drone here and consulted an employee.. When we learned that it was forbidden to fly drones and that it was immediately detected and penalized, we calmly put our drone in its bag Uzungöl DKMP observation deck’s location is here.
Uzungol Dursun Ali Inan Museum
Dursun Ali, which is a different place among the places to visit in Uzungol Inan Museum adds a different atmosphere to Uzungol. Here lies 50 years of labor. This museum was established with the extraordinary efforts of Dursun Ali Inan.. It consists of 3 parts in total.. In the museum, there are sculptures and furniture made by Dursun Ali Inan from tree roots he collected from nature, written and visual content about Uzungol’s history, culture, geography, fauna, flora, social life and many other features.
Uzungol Mosque
You will see this beautiful mosque right at the entrance of Uzungol. Uzungol Mosque is a mosque that is completely identified with Uzungol, allowing you to understand at once that the photograph you see is Uzungol.. As Üstün said, there was this mosque when there was no building here.. Uzungol’s iconic mosque. I hope it doesn’t get lost among the buildings over the years.. At this rate, they will demolish this place and build a hotel or something, this mentality looks like that.
Uzungol Mini Waterfall
I wasn’t going to put this place on my Places to visit in Uzungöl but I wanted to put it in case you want to take a photo anyway. The waterfall has no name. We saw it on our way to the DKMP observation deck.. When asked whether it is natural or artificial, one person said natural and one said artificial.. If you want to see this waterfall, you have to go to the back of the Aygün Hotel.
Places to visit in Uzungol this is my list. If you are going to spend more than 1 day in Uzungöl, you can go to one of the Sultan Murat Plateau, Eğrisu Plateau, Karester Plateau, Şekersu Plateau and Yedigöller. I think it will take 2-3 days to go around.
The Latest Situation in Trabzon Uzungöl
The latest situation of Uzungöl, one of the most important natural beauties of the Eastern Black Sea Region, is sadly deplorable. There has been a concrete massacre in Uzungöl in recent years. Yes, you heard right concrete massacre. The structures built without hesitation cause Uzungöl to lose its beauty.. Why do we treat nature so cruelly when nature has given us such a beautiful place like Uzungöl! Is it all money or rent?
Uzungol is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Black Sea Region.. About 2.5 million tourists visit this place annually. Uzungol is really popular, especially among Arab tourists. The development of tourism may be good for the development of a region, but generally this does not apply to nature.. Uzungol, this is the best proof of my sentence.
There has been an incredible construction here for the last 10 years.. Everyone is trying to do something for the sake of trade, but no one thinks about nature. When we visited, there were boutiques selling clothes and places selling souvenirs.. I’m asking here, is there really a need for a boutique in Uzungol? Come on, people who are concerned about trade are erecting these structures, so why does no official say to stop the construction here?. Nature lovers now call Uzungöl ornamental pool or long pool. Can you see how painful the situation we have come to is?
On the way to Uzungöl, Üstün said that he went to Uzungöl a few times 15-20 years ago and that there are only very few buildings here.. We knew about the crooked construction in Uzungöl from the photos and news, but we were very sad to see it live.. In the recent news, it was stated that 118 buildings that are not suitable for reconstruction peace will be demolished in Uzungöl.. I hope that a nice study of these structures is done here and nature can breathe a little..
Old State of Uzungol
Yes, after all my reproaches, I want to show you the old version of Uzungöl. As you can see from the photos above, there is no need to write this title.. I leave old photos of Uzungol below. There are 700 differences, not 7, between the current state of Uzungöl and its old state.. I hope this difference tends to decrease instead of increasing day by day…
We have come to the end of my
Uzungol Travel Guide. I hope it was a useful writing. For our experiences in Uzungöl, you can check my Trabzon stories that I pinned to my Instagram page.. Don’t forget to follow while you’re looking. 🙂 Happy travels to everyone in advance…
