There are some places that call you for life, and you go when you’re ready.. Jordan is for me. A unique country with its 2200-year-old mystery of the ancient city and as it will always remain in a corner of your heart because you have never discovered it all.. Let’s go for the pink sands. In my Jordan Travel Guide article, I would like to introduce you to a country full of history and culture.

Observations on the Jordan Travel Route
Let me tell you from the beginning, I lived in Dubai. That’s why, with my current Middle East experience, I didn’t think I would have the chance to make such different observations in a country in this geography.. Jordan came out of Dubai completely different. The Middle East should not be mentioned, so that common culture does not prevent each country from revealing its own character. You can feel it both in the capital city and in the 2200-year-old city of Petra. It doesn’t even leave you on the pink sands of the Wadi Rum desert, hidden among the red rocks.. you want to learn. Its history, how it left the Ottoman Empire, Bedouin culture, food. Yes, a country with a lot to learn. This trip satisfies a traveler.
Sometimes “If these beauties were in another geography, would a western society have taken care of it more?” You can’t help thinking . Because the loud tone of voice and peculiar behaviors in Arab culture unfortunately result in “rudeness” for us.. It’s normal from their point of view, maybe that’s why I can’t blame it, but unfortunately I was exposed to rudeness and oriental cunning on this trip.. I wish your person was warmer, I expected. Of course, being Turkish is a plus, but despite the religious fraternity, you are made to feel that you are a foreigner in the country.. At least that was our experience.
You are different as a human type and this is made to feel.. So even if you pay attention to your clothes, you are exposed to a lot of looks.. I would have thought that this would have been surpassed in this country that has so many touristic treasures.
When to Go to Jordan?
The ideal months for a Jordan travel route are April – May. Of course, you can travel during the winter months, but very cold nights await you in the desert.. Or if you go in the summer, the daytime heat can prevent you from traveling.. Keep it in mind as the best alternative after Spring in Autumn.. We made our trip in May 2021 and were very satisfied with the timing.
Is there a Visa to Jordan?
Jordan does not require a visa from Turkish citizens. Only 6 It is sufficient to have a passport with a validity of more than one month.. When I entered the country, they especially questioned me a lot, they wanted the hotel where I would stay, but anyway.. Keep your booking printouts with you.. There is free internet at the airport, if necessary, you can open it and show it there.
How Many Days to Visit Jordan?
A minimum of 4 days is required to visit Jordan. I think it’s enough. If you are interested in diving, it can be extended to 5 days, but remember Jordan is an expensive country.. For this reason, I will share the best price performance route with you below.
Places you must see in Jordan
Everyone comes to Jordan for Petra, of course you too. Your first goal should be to explore the history by walking for kilometers in the Ancient City of Petra.. Wadi Rum is the complement of Petra, I think it is a destination where you can do after Petra and relieve Petra fatigue at the Balloon Hotels in the desert.. I think these two are the must-haves of Jordan.
Reading a book without submerging in the world’s lowest point Dead Sea and living this experience, plus mud baths that will be good for your skin. The best alternative to this route if you want to do. If this is on your route, you can also go to Madaba and see the oldest known map of the holy city of Jerusalem as a mosaic on a church floor.
Amman or Aqaba , on the other hand, are the cities that you can explore by taking 1 day, as there are points to fly to provide your transportation to the country.. Since we flew from Amman, we added this place to our route and we visited historical destinations in Amman and observed the life of Jordanian people better.. While we are here, we also visited the Jerash Ancient City.
If they will fly from Aqaba, they can add diving in the Red Sea to their itinerary . It may not be as miraculous as Egypt, but if you are flying from here, why stay away from this experience?
Jordan Travel Route
It was night when we flew from Dubai to Amman, so we went to the hotel and rested right away.. The next day, we started our route as the 1st day.. We covered 1,000 km and returned from Amman on Day 5. If we had the chance to return from Aqaba, we might not have driven from Wadi Rum to Amman for 3 hours, but there is only a flight to Dubai from Amman.. You can consider this alternative as there are both Amman and Aqaba flights from Istanbul.. Of course, make sure that leaving your rental car in different cities will not cost you additionally.
- DAY 1: Amman – Jerash Ancient City
- 2 .DAY: Baptism Site of Jesus Christ – Madaba St. George Church – Dead Sea
- DAY 3: Petra Ancient City (2 full days for Petra if you have an additional day)
- DAY 4: Wadi Rum
- DAY 5: Return from Amman
Where to Stay in Jordan Jordan Hotel Recommendations
We stayed at 4 different hotels during our trip. We were satisfied with all. I leave the links below with my comments. Very very large mostly no alcohol service in hotels. If you have such a request, do not forget to buy wine etc. from Duty Free.. Unfortunately, we could not find this information in any source..
Amman Accommodation: House Boutique Suites
Since we arrived in Amman late at night, we stayed for 2 nights, once the night we arrived and the day we visited Amman.. We are very satisfied. The attention of the staff was incredible. If you want to use it in the rooms, there is also a kitchen and it is very clean.. His score is too high. That’s why I would happily recommend it.
We also had dinner at our hotel, including breakfast.. Everything we ate in Jordan was not bad as it was medium quality. Of course it was a bit pricey, especially alcohol. Although, this was the only hotel where we could find alcohol.. We couldn’t go out in the evening due to the curfew, we ate here. We paid 260 USD for 2 nights Superior Studio Suite room including breakfast.
Dead Sea Accommodation: Ramada Resort Dead Sea
Oludeniz If you want to experience swimming in the sea without sinking, you need to use the beaches of the hotels.. Since you will pay a certain fee for this, it is best to stay while you are here.. The beaches are not directly accessible by car.. There are many options in the hotels area, but this was a good choice in terms of price and performance.. Yes, the hotel is old, but the other options were a bit saltier.
Just to know, although check-in was made at 15:00, the sea side was closed at 17:30.. You can reach the beach from the hotel by shuttle service.. Even if you say that I will not serve the turn, I will walk (which is a hilly road), you still cannot stay. We did not know this, but thankfully, we went to the sea immediately after check-in and took care of our sea affairs.. It’s a good thing we did, because the next day we woke up very early and set off for Petra.
On the way to Petra, that is, when you pass the hotels area, you see the salt rocks on the seaside.. Beautiful view, don’t miss it!
By the way, since it was a post-Covid trip, we had to have a PCR Test in order to return to our country.. We handled it at this hotel. The hotel doctor came and took a sample for testing in the room.. Sorry the price is salty. We didn’t know where else to get it done, we had to.. There were drive-in test options on the way from Amman to the Dead Sea.. Search for them to get more affordable. We paid 140 JOD for 2 people for this test, we sat inside. We paid 100 USD for 1 night King room including breakfast..
Petra Accommodation: Seven Wonders Luxury Camp
After a day of hiking and climbing for miles in Petra, we arrive at our hotel at sunset. we entered close. This is a Bedouin camp, but besides the tents, there is a separate section that serves as a luxury.. They upgraded our room to Balon Hotel free of charge even though we had booked the tents on the luxury side.. We are so glad! Run by an Australian lady and her Arab wife. They are so sweet.
We ate here for 10 Dinars per person for dinner.. They prepared a separate and very nice table for us.. If you want, a fire is lit at night and there are fireside conversations.. You can join them. The fact that they illuminated the mountains opposite added beauty to our night.. We had a wonderful time and rested in the company of the magnificent sky. We paid 110 USD to Balon Hotel for 1 night including breakfast.
Wadi Rum Accommodation: Memories Aicha Luxury Camp
Jordan We have come to the most important place on your route where you will allocate a budget for accommodation. Wadi Rum, where you will feel on Mars, is the best option for Balon Hotel accommodation.. There are many camps, but under normal conditions, if you do not make a reservation 2-3 months in advance, you may not find a place.. We were lucky in this regard as we were traveling during the Covid period.
We took the top room option of this hotel because the rooms facing an empty desert were at the very front.. You may have trouble with privacy as others stay indoors.. Cons; avant-garde furnishings, not tasty food even though it’s a buffet. We paid 450 USD for the Panoramic Luxury Suite room price for 1 night including breakfast and dinner.
Is Jordan Travel Route Safe?
When Jordan is located in the Middle East, there is also Israel’s When you are right next to it, the first question that comes to mind is safety.. But there is nothing to worry about. Jordan is a very safe country.. You are surrounded by the police every 100 kilometers. Mostly you greet and continue, a few times the license was checked, the license was just checked..
These constant security flips by the police made me feel safe, frankly.. We have never experienced the situations of asking for bribes in other countries.. However, I don’t know if this is because we are Turkish and we entered the subject as “Hi aleyküm”.. They like Turks, sometimes they are surprised to hear that you don’t speak Arabic.. Especially since you said hello in Arabic at the beginning.. Anyway, they will definitely make you cute by using the words they learned from Turkish TV series.
What to Wear in Jordan? Clothing Recommendations
First of all, when you are going to spend time in the desert, day and night temperature difference is very important, so you need to pay attention to clothing.. I prefer shirts during the day. This both saved me from attracting attention under social pressure and prevented me from getting hot.. Long trill skirts are also a very logical choice.. I wore it when I wanted to wear shorts, but you may feel a little uncomfortable especially in the city center of Amman.. It makes sense to take a sweatshirt with you for the evenings as well.. These are valid for May, if you are going to travel in a colder time, be sure to check the weather conditions.
Getting to Jordan
To get from Istanbul to Jordan, go to Aqaba or Amman. you can fly. Since both options are available, it is most logical to go to Amman and return to Aqaba.. But look at the cost of picking up the car from Amman and leaving it in Aqaba.. Turkish Airlines is the airline that organizes the most flights to Aqaba, and Pegasus to Amman.
If you are going to take the same location for a return trip, those who say that I am a diving enthusiast may prefer Aqaba, even if I do not see Amman and Jerash.. Since we can only fly directly to Amman from Dubai, we chose Amman for the round trip.. Seeing the chaos of Amman brought good observations. In addition to this, we were more than satisfied with the historical locations we saw.. That’s why, as a road trip enthusiast, I would still choose Amman.
Hiring a Car in Jordan – Domestic Transportation
The best option to visit Jordan with pleasure is to rent a car.. Since we were a road trip couple, we traveled 1000 kilometers with the car we rented from Avis on this trip.. Biggest advice, don’t drive in the city in Amman and Madaba. Leave the car at the hotel in Amman and at the restaurant I recommend in Madaba and wander around the city.
Be cautious about gasoline.. On our way from the Dead Sea to Petra, we didn’t see a single station until we got to Petra.
There’s no need to rent a 4×4, but it’s too bad, don’t rent a car. Having navigation helped us a lot, we always used it, we saved money on the internet.. Since there is a desert at the entrance to Wadi Rum, the vehicles there take you to the hotel and you do not enter the desert by car.. Thankfully nothing happened.. They overcharge the deposit, have a limit on your card. We paid JOD 114 for 5 days for car rental.

Is the product expensive? Jordan Travel Budget
Jordan travel route is an expensive destination, I’m sorry to say. When both currencies are very valuable and TL is very worthless, the result is not very encouraging.. However, when you want to travel, you go prepared with your suitcase, you can skip meals, there is always a way to make the trip convenient.
Ottoman History of Jordan
Jordan lands, Ottoman It entered under the rule of the Empire after the Battle of Mercidabık in 1516, in which the Ottomans defeated the Mamluks. And Jordan was a part of the Ottoman Empire from 1516 to 1918. If you’re interested, I suggest you read this history and go on a trip.

Take the socket, different types, converter. Bargaining is necessary. Whatever you buy, make sure to bargain. There are no lights on the roads, so I do not recommend traveling at night..
