After turning up and running Thessaloniki, I learn what and what is in the city shortly before my return.
With my friend Alexander, who knows my interest in stationery products, I’m at Jumbo, the biggest toy and stationery chain store in Greece. We decide to go to either.
Greece is a country that could not get rid of the statist economic model despite being a member of the European Union.. The majority of many sectors of the country are in the hands of the state.
The Greek Flag, waving side by side with the European Union, continues to attract the reactions of Greek citizens.. The Greeks entered the EU, which we were waiting at its door saying “please take us”, in 1981, but the people do not want the EU.. They perceive the EU as an institution that causes high inflation and is against the independence of the country.
This nationalism, in other words love of country, has brought Greek citizens together in many fields.. In cooperation with the state, citizens created national corporate companies.
One of these corporate companies is in Jumbo.. Jumbo Toy stores have turned into 39 huge supermarkets across Greece. In addition, Cyprus, Bulgaria and Romania have become the countries where this Greek brand operates abroad.

While it is still raining, we get off in front of the supermarket by the city bus.
The store, which attracts the attention of adults as well as children with its colorful logo, consists of two floors.
This store of Jumbo also holds the title of being the largest toy store in the Balkans.
We are getting lost among colorful and colorful babies. The colors are so vibrant and interesting that we feel ourselves in a very different environment.
As for the prices, they are extremely reasonable.. Almost free compared to overseas toy companies. In fact, 70% of the toys and products sold in Jumbo stores are made in Greece.
My eyes, accustomed to Made in China in the toy industry, have difficulty getting used to the “Made in Greece” text.
All around. plush bears, pigs, soft pillows with hearts…
These toys and pillows are available in different sizes, from the size that fits in the palm to the size that can fit in a room.
The wave of nationalism can be clearly seen on the toys.. The Greek Flag is waving over the figures representing the Greek soldier and many toys.
By the way, my friend is 105 by 70 cm..
The problems experienced by football clubs in our country regarding licensed products have been resolved with a common mind in Greece.. You can reach a wide variety of licensed products almost all over the country with mass production and cheap prices.. Products with the logos of Greek Football Clubs, such as hats, stationery products, flags, and bags, have taken their places on Jumbo shelves.
It has become a solution that both comes to football clubs and takes care of the pockets of the citizens.
In 2004 Olympic Games The remnants of the memory products prepared by the country hosting the Games for the Olympic Games are also on sale at very cheap prices.
Very useful, high quality notebooks are waiting for buyers at prices such as 25-50 cents.
After losing myself in the stationery aisles, we go to the cash register with my hands full.
Jumbo is one of the places I have the most fun in Thessaloniki.
You guys stop by. I say!
