Although I have come and gone to Izmir many times, I have never been to Buca. Until the discovery of Buca, which lasted for 3 days, the only thing I knew was that Buca was a district of Izmir.. We visited Buca for 3 days with the promotion of Buca, organized by Buca Municipality. Roasters, soup shops, crispy bakeries, toasters, kokorec shops…. If you happen to pass by Buca, or after this article, if you say, “What’s in that Buca,” here is a full Buca food and beverage guide.
Where to eat and what to eat in Buca? Restaurants, cereal shops, dessert shops, toasters…
What to eat in Buca? Before asking the question, what to eat in Izmir? let’s start with. One of the first that comes to mind is of course crispy, also known as simit.. Then our first stop is Gevrekçi Okan.
Gevrekçi Okan is one of the oldest stone ovens in Buca.. A little place in the middle of the neighborhood, away from the show. This is a 35 year old bakery.. Apart from cereals, they also make boyoz and pastry.. Father and son working together. As soon as you enter through the door, there is a small counter on the left side of the stove, where the dough is kneaded.. They work in an open system and you can watch the production stages of the cereal.
I like this traditional taste very much.. I can find good bagels in Istanbul, I am lucky in that respect.. That’s why I take a little distance if I’m going to buy a bagel in another city.. But I loved Gevrekçi Okan’s cereal.. It is crispy on the outside, not doughy.
Bosnian Soupper is the address that those who like to drink soup in the morning like me should stop by in Buca.. It is located on Uğur Mumcu street, across from the Buca Statue.. There is a lot of variety in Bosnia, run by two brothers.. Tripe, head trotter, leg knuckle, mixed, lentils… All of them are cooked in their own juice.
They open at 4 in the morning and serve until 2 am at midnight.. There are 4-5 tables inside but I liked the tables in front of the red walls directly opposite the main shop. They also serve dessert, but we went in the morning, we drank soup and got up.. I want to try dessert next time.. Lentils are 8 TL, other soups are 12 TL.
Ote Yaka Grill is a family business that should definitely be visited by those who want to eat meat in Buca.. It is located on Erdem Street, 1 minute away from the Protestant Baptist Church, in a narrow street.. Its menu is plain and simple, but the flavors are really good enough to seduce even a meat lover.
Meatballs, legendary cross collar liver, cross collar cotton, küşleme and mine, this is the menu.. Sir, cotton is made of ribeye, mushrooms, biner and tomatoes, really like cotton.
Mine is as dangerous as its name, it looks like kemalpaşa dessert, but it has tahini on cream and caramel sauce around it.. It consists of a few tables placed under the vine on the street and a small hall with stairs and a step.
Boudja Gastro Pub is located right next to the Pink Mansion, which was used as the city hall, and is newly opened. a venue. Among the places I visited in Buca, it is one of the two places that attract my attention with its decoration, and of course with its food.
Inside a two-storey long tiled roof.. In the upper part, which is reached by stairs, one side of the wall is painted green, there is a narrow hall and a bar section at the end.. I tried pasta with pesto sauce, pizza with vegetables, pizza with bacon and sausage, hamburger and frozen ayran.
They were all delicious.. I especially loved the frozen ayran.. Black and white photographs and music reminiscent of the 1950s on the wall created a pleasant ambiance.
Orhan’s Place 1989 is on the main street, reminiscent of the fireside restaurants in the neighborhood from the outside, but inside a place that wasn’t like that at all when you entered. It is a tavern that deserves these beauties, about which I was praised a lot before I came.
It is not very big inside, there are 10 tables.. But there are such appetizers that it makes me want to just come here to eat appetizers and fill my stomach with appetizers.. Our table was filled with a variety of appetizers with eggplant, cucumber and pistachio.. My fork and knife reached for plates many times. I finished with the latest quince dessert and fig dessert with cream.
Buca Tostçusu is one of Buca’s oldies.. In a small shabby shop in Dumlupınar district, brother İsmail has been making toast for 16 years.. There are those who have heard of his reputation from abroad.. Paste of its own production. This tomato paste and a delicious sauce are spread between the toast.
Other ingredients are tulum cheese and specially made sausage.. You know how delicious a toast can be.. You should definitely try the buttermilk, it’s delicious, if you like.. The shop is small with a few tables inside. On the wall are local sodas, whose names are probably forgotten by most.
If the weather is nice, sit at the small table in front of the door because the atmosphere of the street is also very nostalgic.. Opposite the butcher, cobbler next to it, it’s enjoyable to eat toast by watching the street and breathing that nostalgic air.. Brother İsmail’s heart is as beautiful as his toast, and he supports the students by giving scholarships.
While tasting the food at Teksin Lokantası, it is as if I had just returned home from a short vacation and my mother made one of those home-cooked meals that I missed. I felt. It is run by Mrs. Ayşe and Mr. Şevki.
As a warm, clean and quiet neighborhood restaurant, Teksin is surrounded by lush trees.. The regulars of the restaurant, which is located between the two doors of the education faculty, are students and academicians.
The main part of the menu is juicy dishes and olive oil dishes.. Almost 8-10 kinds of olives are made with olive oil every day.. I tried Izmir meatballs, chicken broth soup, pumpkin dessert and Kazandibi, it was incredibly delicious.. Some days there is also liver and head and head soup, I did not come across it.
Isik Lokantası, Buca’s most famous artisan restaurant. A few minutes’ walk from Şirinyer Park on Mehmet Akif Street.. Işık was one of the most recommended places before going to Buca.. They open early in the morning and the food ends around 6 pm.
Whatever comes to your mind from watery dishes. I ate soup and sultanas, it was delicious. The circulation is very fast as the place is small and demand is high.. When you find a vacant place, you need to sit down immediately.. The same table is shared by different customers, but for your peace of mind, the tables are divided into partitions with plexiglass.
Kadayifci Saim Usta is a small shop on the street with a baklava window.. After hearing that its künefe is famous, I added it to my list as a person who loves künefe.
Inside, there are two tables, a counter, mind-blowing baklava trays in front of the glass and a triple stove for künefe.. At the beginning of the stove, I watched how the künefe was cooked and the cooking nuances.. Cooking and sherbet pouring part is very enjoyable.. It’s delicious in künefes, but a little sweet for me.. They used different sherbet depending on the season.
Cafe Castro, Bucalı Özkan Bey’s coffee shop. Different coffee beans are ground here. Grinding beans from Brazil, Africa, Arabian Peninsula. There is no place to sit inside, you buy the coffee beans you want and leave. They also have online sales, if you wish, you can order from the website.
Red Dew Wine, a sweet place hidden among vines in Dumlupınar neighborhood. Very photographic both outside and inside. Abidin Abidin maintains the cult of wine he received from his Bektashi grandfathers here and produces wine with his daughter.. A place to visit in Buca, especially if you like wine.
Atom Kokoreç is a taste stop that we stopped by in Buca, that made me love the street flavor that I stay away from, and that I can easily recommend you to stop by.. He has been making Albanian-style kokorec in Buca for 40 years.
Master Kazim prepares the Atom kokoreç, which is cooked in the small wheelbarrow, on the two-foot-long counter of this wheelbarrow.. It starts at noon and ends in a few hours at most.. I’m not very good with offal, but I like the taste.. Since it is cooked in a special sauce with tomato paste, its smell is also delicious.
Twins Kelle is an address that teaches me that I can eat a head and it doesn’t have a very strange taste.. From the outside, this place looks like an ordinary butcher’s shop.
In front of it, there is a large glass-enclosed stove system in which chicken parts and heads rotate.. When the heads are cooked, the master makes the head ready in about 30-40 seconds.. And the show part of the job is right at this moment.
I couldn’t understand how he separated the flesh and blood so quickly.. just like a magician. There is no table to sit around and eat, customers usually take packages and take them home.
