A more detailed version of my article published in Hürriyet Seyahat
”We went a little, we went, we went straight, we went straight’ ‘ says in the fairy tale. So we went. I don’t know where this longing to go to Kenya started, why but Kenya called me. I didn’t try in April. It came to me by itself in July. i went too. This time I had to wait a few months. My diving friends have made plans for their holiday in Kenya, Zanzibar.. Anyway, I just didn’t want to go to Kenya. I wanted to go to Tanzania Zanzibar while I was gone. Did I mention I’m very honeyed?

How We Got to Kenya?
We We fly with Qatar Airways via Doha.. We have two hours of transfer time.. If you do not board from the first flight location on such connecting flights, all your other flights will be burned.. Hot meals with options on Qatar Airways are delicious. The mealtime plane smells of food, but it’s not offensive, it’s even tempting.. The team is extremely friendly.
Our plane, which we boarded at Atatürk Airport, will be in Doha 4 hours later.. A truly amazing airport. When we say get off the plane, walk to the other plane, ticket etc., we don’t even understand the two hours and we are on the plane for Nairobi.. Whatever I thought, I have a 600-page brick book with me.
Doha
When my friend sat me in the seat at the emergency flight gate , when the seat never moves, I spend the remaining 6 hours of flight reading. When I look out the window late at night, I see the moon upside down. I’ve never seen it this way before. I say, “Spring you really went this time, but what did you go?”. Actually, that was the counter we landed at.. On the way back, we saw that there is a huge airport, but we could not enter this airport either on the way or on the way back.
Kenya visa can be obtained at the door for 50 dollars.. Green passport holders enter without paying a visa in a separate order.. There’s a caravan that goes before us. they came to get us. British culture is a very entrenched place as Kenya remained a British colony for a long time.. Even the steering wheel is on the right. Our hotel is not very close to the airport.. Not a nice hotel either. There is no hot water and I take a shower with cold water.
Why? because we’re going on a three-day safari and I won’t be able to take a shower.. We will go to see the big five. The Big Five. In the exploration of Africa, when the white man came, he went hunting and went after these five animals that were the hardest to catch.. Lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, rhino. So is the name. Fortunately, hunting is prohibited nowadays.
According to what they say, there is a traffic that does not look like Istanbul traffic during the day.. It never occurred to me. Did I mention I was lucky?
Graffe Center and Giraffes
Kenya has hot dishes like chicken and beans for breakfast in the morning.. And things like toast bread, eggs, pineapple.. Of course I use the second option. I guess I’ll be a little hungry around here. Now I would also try those hot dishes for breakfast.. Actually, we shouldn’t be biased.
Our first stop is Graffe Center. Seeing the unique trees called the Umbrella Acacia Tree closely, watching the giraffes eating the leaves of this tree is like a fairy tale.. my favorite animals are giraffes. Let them be victims of their smiling faces and spots.. This is a place where giraffes are raised.. We didn’t pay for the entrance as we were on a tour with the travelers and everything was pre-arranged.. It got a little crowded with us here.. Everyone rushed at the giraffes.
When a caretaker puts the giraffe bait between her lips and feeds the giraffe like this, I can’t stand it and I try over and over.. He manages to eat every time. My amazing photos and gifs emerge. There is also a souvenir sale here.. Thinking that we are just at the beginning of the road, we can buy from another place is not very valid for Africa.
You should buy whatever you like.. You may not have a chance to meet again. You can’t find the same in other places, as the ones that are generally sold are handmade or belong to that region.. I still dream of the unique covers I haven’t bought at the Graffe Center.
We get on our Range Rovers and set off. We’ll go to the steppes of Kenya. There is a rural climate on these sides.. Tours are organized for safari in Kenya. you can’t go on your own. Everything is included in the tour. you are not dealing with anything. We’re eating somewhere on the way.
Simple buffet style. I think I drank the most delicious soup I’ve ever had in my life here.. I drank another bowl after the meal but I really don’t know what I’m drinking. I didn’t think to ask. It must be because of the tiredness of the road and the confusion of where I am.
The World’s Longest Fault Line Rift Valley
Rift Valley. The world’s largest fault line, the Rift Valleyis a vast geographical and geological shape. It is thought that eastern Africa will be separated from the continent by a big earthquake one day.. Its depth ranged from a few hundred meters to thousands of meters.. It was named after the explorer John Walter Gregory.. It is impossible not to be uneasy when you are on it.
You are looking at the vast lands from a viewing terrace.. A few barracks also sell souvenirs.. I’ll buy the hat he said $40 for $5. Bargaining is a must in these lands.
Lake Naivasha, Lake Safari
The road takes almost all day. Towards evening hours, we finally reached Lake Naivasha. Here we will do a lake safari. They make us wear life jackets. The weather is a little cooler now. Continental climate prevails in the interior. We’ll see hippos and white-headed eagles. We’re in canoes.
If we topple, I’m past the cold water, the place is full of hippos and many other things. The hippo is one of the deadliest animals in the world.. We never want to fall. There were only fishermen in the water, which we did not want to fall into, who were in the water almost up to their necks.
As our canoe guide throws fish into the air, the white-headed eagles keep grabbing them, but they are not very eager.. Looks like they had this show all day until we got here and they were cracking up on food.. It’s like I’m in a fairy tale, seeing a hippo for the first time in my life.
I can feel it alone in a fairy tale.. I’m thinly dressed. I’m freezing. I’m relieved when our canoe guide gives me her windbreaker. It’s so big it’s still loose when I wear it with my life jacket.
I play with the monkeys there after safari. They come so close to me. Even if it comes close to me, it is not possible to touch it.. In fact, we are mutually afraid of each other.
We are having a wonderful sunset. Everything is so magical. I still can’t believe I’m there and living this. I would have thought I was in a dream if the wind hadn’t bitten my skin or played with my hair.
Everyone goes to sleep after dinner at the hotel.. I prefer to surf the internet in the lobby. National Geograik’s African documentaries are always on on all open TVs and I am in that documentary.
Lake Nakuru Safari
We are at the Lake View Estate in Lake Nakuru early in the morning.. It’s a lake again, but this time we’re doing a land safari.. The animals living here are very lucky in humans.. It’s green everywhere and there’s plenty of water.
We see a lot of impala. Monkeys are everywhere. And sometime we see a rhino. far away alone. I don’t have a professional camera. Already in the first days of our safari, we are the first and last sight of the rhino, which we said we would see and shoot anyway, but there is no photo.. let it be. The important thing is that we have seen it.
We are going to the lake of the flamingos. There are a few very far away, but even with binoculars it is not possible to see very clearly. By the way, be sure to take binoculars with you.. There is usually one guide, but you will have to wait in line for that many people.
Equator Line, Right in the Middle of the Earth
Our car guides will take us to Equator line we discuss whether or not to go when he says he can. I don’t know what’s debatable about it.. Of course we will go. Barracks are set up where the equator line is.. In each of them, very different African products are sold.
Our vehicle, as always, is the last vehicle to go.. Wherever we go, we are the least able to stay. Even though we’re late, we’re moving at the same time. If I had another half hour, I could get some really good stuff from there.. It was actually the cheapest place.
A woman is doing a water experiment for us.. A piece of wood in a muddy bowl of water takes one step to the right and turns left after one step to the right.. If it is above the full line, it remains motionless.. We are with the facts of what we read in books.
