Our driver, who looks like a medieval person with his long hair and cigarette-yellow beard, dropped us off at the Coober Pedy bus stop before sunrise.. Even though it was 2-3 degrees outside, our bus, which was freezing inside, set off for Alice Springs with a few whites and a group of Aboriginals.. 9 hours later, I was in the town of Alice Springs, which was built in the middle of nowhere in the heart of Australia.. There are no settlements on these hundreds of kilometers of roads, there are some cafes and restaurants built only for relaxation.. At the place where we took a last stop, there were many caravans, trucks carrying animals and 3 bodies behind them, and many vehicles.. Again, right next to the cafe, there was an emu farm from Australian local animals.. The flies are interesting, they come and land in your face, and they are quite stubborn.
9 hours after the journey from Coober Pedy at 05:40 in the morning, finally in the heart of Australia, Alice Springs i was in. This area, which the Aborigines call Mparntwe, is more popularly called The Alice.. These 3 of the Northern Provinces. Its largest town is home to Arrernte aborigines who have lived here for thousands of years.
The town of Alice Springs, with a population of 30,000, located in the geographical center of Australia, 75 percent of which is desert, is the town of 30,000 to reach the nearest city, no matter which way you go 1500. located in a place where you have to travel km, so in the middle of nowhere. It has a typical desert climate, mostly dry climate, during the summer months (October and March) the air temperature reaches 40 degrees, and during the winter months (May-September) it is possible to see this temperature at -7 at night.
There are many remarkable natural formations around the town, one hour away.. Popular with most travelers, Simpsons Gap is located in the MacDonnell Ranges area of Standley Chasm, Ormiston Gorge, Glen Helen, and Palm Valley West. In the East MacDonnell Ranges, there is Trephina Gorge, Ruby Gap and one of the historical gold rush towns Arltunga.
What makes Alice Springs so important and popular is Australia’s other well-known town. home to Uluru, a symbol of. Kings Canyon, Uluru, Kata Tjuta are the most visited places in this region. This area, which has 30,000 years of historical and cultural history, is known as the Red Center.
While I was handling the reservations at YHA Hostel, my New Zealand friend Laurie, whom I met at the hostel I stayed in Melbourne before, arrived.. When I crossed into Tasmania, he followed the Great Ocean Road, first to Adelaide and then to Alice Springs, where he was waiting for me to go to Uluru.. Honestly, this hobbyist friend of whom I could not understand half of his speech because of his accent, immediately began to give information about Alice Spring.. After I settled in the hostel, I evaluated the information given by the hobbyist.. I used to say Australia is expensive, but this place is much more expensive than anywhere else.
Many tourists visit this region to see Uluru (Ayers Rock), Kata Tjuta (The Olgas) and Kings Canyon in this region. coming to visit. Organization of two-night, three-day camping tour to Uluru starts from $350. You can spend a month in Asia in a single room with a shower, with the money you will spend for two days and camping in the field with a sleeping bag.. Coming here is costly, and leaving is also very costly.. Flights from Alice Springs to Cairns, Brisbane or other cities start at AU$350. Likewise, getting to Darwin, which is my last stop from these cities, is both difficult and expensive.
Our final plan is to rent a car and find it, but if we can find it, we can go to Uluru from Alice Springs and camp for 2 days. do and return. First, we looked at the hostel’s information board to see if anyone had a note with their travel plans matching ours.. We spoke to several people by phone or text.. Some had already gone, some had plans to go to Adelaide after Uluru.. We’ll head back to Alice Springs and then cross the east coast to Brisbane or Cairns.. We decided to wait for a few days so that we could find a companion.
After the planning, we started touring the streets of Alice Springs.. Many art galleries line the street called Todd Mall.. The bazaar center does not stand out.
It is also called the Aboriginal Art capital of Central Australia, as prominent products of Aboriginal art are produced in this town.. Filled with art galleries selling mostly Aboriginal crafts. It is ironic that the owners of the culture that inspired the art products sold here for hundreds or thousands of dollars live on the street right in front of these galleries.
There are homeless Aborigines in the streets, in the park, almost everywhere.. Some sell handmade paintings. They used to spend the day on these grasses in the streets, in the parks, and sleep under the bridge over the river at night.
As you can see most of them barefoot, 5-year-old children, you can also see many elderly people in their seventies.. We watched the open-air concert of a small band in the park.
It’s not a big deal to be outside in this season of the day, but I wonder how they live in a temperature of a couple of degrees at night.
