In fact, recently Laos Visa at the Door started and there was news that the agreement was reached.. But at the time I was there, Laos still required a visa.. Here in this article, I will talk about Laos visa documents and How to get Laos visa.

1. Does Laos Need a Visa ?
This is very, very annoying.. Why?
Because at the last meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Turkey-Laos, an agreement was made that a gate visa would now be issued at the border.
But at the time I went, this regulation was still not in effect.. Do you even know what is written at the gate at the border?
There is a list of countries with visa application at the gate.. edited in 2006. Turkey has a name there too, but unfortunately it is not valid yet !!!

Now I’ll explain it like this, everything about this visa can change at any moment.
Therefore, before you go, I would definitely say that you have a look at the current visa status on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website.. Because everything can change at any moment.
Now hearing about this and not wanting to risk it, I first went to the largest Laos Consulate in Bangkok.. I asked the men if the visa was lifted. They said “No. In fact, getting a visa has become even more difficult now.” shouldn’t they say !

The reason why I went to the consulate was that I thought that I would get my visa that day, but they told me that I could come and get my visa after 1 week.. However, they also asked me for the following Laos visa documents. Indeed, getting a Laos visa was even more difficult.

2. What are the Laos Visa Documents?
I told you it took me a lot to get a Laos visa.. In many places, only 1 photo and 50 dollars were written, but during my visit, they wanted to see the following documents one by one.. These are:
- Round-trip flight ticket
- Hotel reservations
- 1 photo
- Credit card photocopy They asked for it.)
- Application form
They checked all these documents 40 times. But finally, even after 1 week, I was able to get the Laos visa
3. Where to Get a Laos Visa?
The example I described above was based on getting it from Bangkok.. Actually, there was a place called Khon Kaen, near the border with Laos, but I didn’t want to risk it.. I explained the reasons below!
Let’s say you plan ahead and you want to get a Laos visa early and secure your trip.
That’s a bit annoying.. Do you know why?
Since there is no Laos Consulate in Turkey, we can obtain visas from countries neighboring Laos such as Thailand, Vietnam or Cambodia.. In other words, you can only go to those countries and apply for a Laos visa from there.

4. My Suggestions While Getting Laos Visa
By the way, let me make some suggestions about Khon Kaen, which I mentioned above.
If you are going to get a Laos visa, I need to talk about a situation like this.. It hasn’t happened to me, but I’m quoting it because it says so on most forms:
There is a place called Khon Kaen in Thailand, which is the closest to Laos.. Is it possible to go to the Laos Consulate there and get a Laos Visa within 1 day?. Of course, this is a bit risky.. You ask why ? (You can see its location on the map below. It is just below Udon Thani.)

For example: What will happen if they go there now and say that they will issue the Laos visa in 1 week? What will you do in Khon Kaen for 1 week?
That’s why I didn’t want to risk it and instead went to Thailand’s Koh Phangan Island for 1 week and joined the party; rested on the island. I’ve already described it in my Koh Phangan Island Full Moon party posts. Be sure to check it out.
Also, after returning from the island, I got my visa from Bangkok and paid a Laos Visa Fee of 1,500 Baht, or 50 dollars.
After I got my Laos visa, I immediately hit the road to go to Laos.
On the way from Bangkok to Laos, there were 2 ways: One is to go across the border to Laos; the other was to fly to Laos.

But plane tickets to Laos were very expensive. That’s why we flew to a city called Udon Thani; We paid 200 Baht from there and came to the border with minivans and from there we paid 20 Baht to the Capital Vientiane by bus.. (I explained this part in my video above.)
