Philippines‘s known Boracay, Bohol, El Nido, Puerto Princesa and we went to the regions of Coron and experienced all the beauties of those places.. However, Philippines are not the only places to see.
We arrived in Moalboal days after a long, tiring and troubled journey.. For how our trip went and what happened to us, you can read our Journey to the Philippines article here.
Moalboal In the southwestern part of the Visayas Region, 92 km from Cebu city.
The town, known for its beaches and colorful underwater world since 1970, is full of dive lovers from all over the world.. You do not need to choose a particular season to dive.. In high season and low season, Moalboal is a very suitable area for diving.
Moalboal’s most popular beach is Panagsama, 4 km from the town. is. Panagsama White Beach, also known as Basdako, has a 7 km long white sandy beach stretching to the north.
Basdako literally means Big Sand-White Beach.
Although it is said that there is a white beach for 7 km, the real white beach is the White Beach region.. Going to the beach, which is subject to an entrance fee, and 30 meters from the sea, the incredible underwater diversity is astonishing.
Sea water withdrawal time is between 17:00 and 08:00.
Contrary to most tourists, we preferred to stay at Magic Island Dive Resort, which is 3 km from the town, instead of White Beach and Panagsama beach.
Because there is no ATM in the town, it is useful to have enough cash with you.. There is no ATM but there is a mall. Our minds Nothing but the shopping mall for sure.
Activities to Do in Moalboal
-Lambug Beach : 9 km before reaching Kawasan waterfall.
-Kawasan Fall : 25 km south of Moalboal. Its entrance is called Barangay Matutinao. You have to walk along the river for 15-20 minutes from here.
Do not believe what the guides at the entrance to the waterfall tell you.. When you walk along the river you will already arrive at the waterfall. Although there is information that normally motorcycles are parked at the entrance, almost all motorcycles went to the entrance of the waterfall.
We swam comfortably without a life jacket because there was not much current in Kawasan Waterfall.. If they insist, you don’t have to buy it.
If you don’t plan to take a Kawasan canyon tour, you can visit the waterfall with flip-flops.
We highly recommend the canyon tour. We spent the most fun, most exciting 5 hours of our lives. We recommend that you wear very comfortable shoes for the canyon tour.. Otherwise, the tour may turn into a hassle for you.
We do not recommend visiting Saturday and Sunday as Kawasan Falls is overrun by locals on weekends.
-Alegria : 11 km south of Kawasan waterfall, it is a region famous for its waterfalls.. Cancalanog, Cambais, Montepeller, Kawa Kawa waterfalls are truly natural beauties worth seeing.
-Malabuyoc : 20 km south of Alegria, to Kabutungan waterfall and Mainit hot spring.
Mainit spa has 3 pools. And the water temperature reaches 44 degrees.
-Osmena Peak : 36 km south of Moalboal is a wonderful place for trekking.
-Pescador Island
Getting to Moalboal
For the first time, we traveled very comfortably, without a load, but with all the enthusiasm destroyed. The sentence sounded very confusing, right We arrived in the Philippines, but our bags did not arrive, so. Filling the lost and found form, contacting people in Istanbul and calling Atatürk airport. When we said etc, we had to continue on our way.
We need to take a taxi from the airport taxi stand and go directly to the South Bus Terminal.. We got on the first bus (without air-conditioning) from here and arrived in Moalboal town after 4 hours.
You may prefer air-conditioned buses since non-air-conditioned buses stop and go a lot.. You won’t get bored during the journey as there is both more comfortable and free wifi.
After arriving in town, you can reach the hotel via trcycle and motorcycle taxis.. Since Trcycle wanted too much money, we hired a motorcycle taxi for 2 people to reach us for 50 php.
