Nong Khiaw is a quiet town nestled in a valley overlooking the dazzling scenery on the banks of the Nam Ou River. Phathok Cave II. It was used as a shelter by the local people in the Indochina War.
The hill on which the town is built is covered with forests. The hill that can be reached by a path passing through the forest in a 4-hour trek is also the second highest peak in the town to be reached.
