How to Go to Ağva?
04 April. We are ready to explore Ağva with my friends in the early hours of the morning.. It is very easy to reach Agva from Kocaeli University and Izmit where I studied. From Umuttepe, you go directly to Akçaova.. After a 50-kilometer road that is mixed with asphalt and concrete, we reach Ağva.
To go from Istanbul to Ağva, you need to reach Çekmeköy and Şile.. At the end of the Şile road, you will easily see the Ağva signs.. This route is approximately 90 kilometers between Üsküdar and Ağva.. A single lane road awaits you after Şile. The transportation time from Istanbul Anatolian Side is about 2 hours.
To go to Ağva by public transport, you must take IETT’s 139A bus from Üsküdar, the fare is for one way as of 2022. 25 pounds. You can find the timetable for the Ağva – Istanbul bus here.

Information About Ağva
I would like to briefly talk about Ağva. Ağva is a coastal town in the Şile district of Istanbul. It is located on the northeastern edge of Istanbul, on the Black Sea coast.
The history of Ağva is 7 BC.. It dates back to the century. It was possible to come across ruins in the surrounding villages.. The Latin meaning of the name Ağva is “village between two streams”.. Today, it is one of the weekend getaways of Istanbulites and one of the touristic values of our country.

My Impressions of Ağva
I am returning to our Ağva trip. We are in Ağva after an enjoyable one-hour nature journey.. The scenery I saw was quite astonishing, it’s literally a small town. Ağva, unlike Şile, has survived from urbanization. Its population is only around 2-3 thousand people, although this figure increases in summer, it reaches a maximum of 10 thousand.
As soon as I reach Ağva, Göksu and Yeşilçay Streams welcome me. I enjoy the sea and the river together in Ağva, which is between these two creeks.
My First Impressions from Ağva
Places to Visit in Ağva
Ağva Harbor
Ağva I’m starting to explore places to visit in. First, there is the small port of Ağva.. This is the point where Yeşilçay Creek empties into the Black Sea.. Immediately the steep hill in front of me makes me feel myself in a one-sided valley. The reflection of the green trees on the water is simply magnificent.
Ağva harbor is decorated with fish restaurants lined up in length. While having a pleasant dinner at these restaurants, you can add the wonderful harmony of raki and fish to your conversation.

Ağva Boat Tours
There are boats in the harbor for a few hours tours. I think a river tour in Agva is definitely one of the must-do.. You can knock on the doors of the boats in the harbor for these tours.
You have various options including Yeşilçay Creek and the eastern bays of Ağva. Although the prices vary according to the period, the price for a 1-hour tour is usually around 100 TL >
Ahead of the port, Ağva Lighthouse catches my eye. One of the must-see places in Fener Ağva. As you walk to the end, you witness the combination of the creek and the sea on your right.
This beautiful environment with the sunny weather makes you breathe.. At the far end of the lovely lighthouse is Ukraine!

Ağva Beaches
Ağva Public Beach
On the other side of the mole There is Agva Public Beach. This beach is so big it stretches as far as your eye can see.. Agva offers a good alternative for swimming.
Agva Public Beach is free to enter.. You can rent sunbeds and umbrellas here.. I can say that the Black Sea has been very generous here.. The sand is so fine that it does not look like the southern beaches in fact.
The clarity and cleanliness of the sea is at least as good as the Mediterranean beaches. It is quite logical to come to Ağva, which is right next to Istanbul, for a sea vacation.

Snorkeling in Ağva
The only attention to those who come to Ağva to swim the wind must. As you know, the Black Sea is not suitable for swimming on windy days..
In my visits to Ağva during the season, the swimming areas were barges surrounded and lifesaving teams were on duty in most places.

This is my favorite place in Ağva.. The nature and colors on the walking path are perfect, you can see cute wooden piers in places.. You can sneak into a few of the piers We even found a small rowing boat!

There are plenty of alternatives to eat in Agva. It is possible to find fish, home cooking and kebab varieties in the center.. So we decided to sit in a boutique restaurant and eat ravioli.. We pay a fee of 20 liras for a small portion of ravioli.

Kurfallı Altı Beach
Our next destination is Kurfallı Altı Beach. This beach is 2-3 kilometers west of the city.. In fact, it is the most extreme area of Ağva Public Beach, which I just told you about.
The most beautiful feature of Kurfallıaltı is that it has such a wide beach that you can swim here comfortably even on the busiest days.. In addition, the cliffs by the sea make you feel truly in nature.
On our way back to Ağva, we pass Göksu Stream. Very nice breakfast places by Göksu, west of Ağva There are strong> there, you can just drink tea and enjoy the creek here.

Kilimli Bay and Picnic Area
I am moving towards the eastern bays of Ağva. Here is Kilimli Bay that you all know. Kilimli is one of the most popular places in Agva.. The taste of swimming in the bay is different
There are camping and picnic areas in Kilimli. Since it is given to businesses, you can get service for a fee.. But there are also free alternatives !
You can discover free spots for barbecue and picnic on the hill>on the way down to Kilimli.

Sunset in Ağva
It’s afternoon now, I thought of Yeşilçay Creek as the place where the day would set in the most beautiful way I was not wrong, the last rays of the sun are reflecting on the water in harmony.
The sun is behind us. While we are sad, The Moon greets me!
In this way, our little Ağva trip comes to an end.. I really like Agva. Fortunately, I’m a native here Soon, our family will have a home here.

Barbecue and Picnic Places in Ağva
For those who say, “I want to have a barbecue without polluting nature!” I recommend Kilimli and Kurfalli Six. You can both swim and enjoy a barbecue.
However, Ağva is usually very windy.. That’s why it’s better to be careful when lighting a fire, the flames will spread through the lush vegetation!
When to Go to Agva?
My review For you to come to Ağva in spring. During these periods, there is a perfect town atmosphere, people are few and nature is abundant.
Of course, there are those who want to escape from Istanbul and swim in the sea, they must come in the summer months But the weather is not just about the heat, it’s also in the summer If we prefer the days when the wind will be low we can swim in the sea to the fullest.
