How Much Was an 8-Day Jordan Trip?
In the chart below, you can see the total expenses of our Jordan trip. Before going into details, let me talk about the parts that are in our budget but may not be in yours.
Because we want to dive in Aqaba while we’ve been to Jordan, we decided to go to Aqaba for two nights accommodation ($ 228) and diving prices ($ 200) was also included in travel expenses. If we consider the cost of eating and drinking, car rental price and gas in these two days, I can say that we spent 600 dollars only in Aqaba.. In other words, if you do not intend to dive, if you are not going to Aqaba, you can allocate less time and less budget to Jordan..
*All prices in Total cost shown below are for two persons.
Prices #1 – Flight Tickets in Jordan
As we couldn’t find affordable tickets from Bahrain on our way to Jordan, again We took advantage of having a residence permit from Saudi Arabia and used the Royal Jordanian company departing from Dammam; For the direct flight to Amman, we paid a fee of $356 round trip per person.
If you are coming from Turkey, especially from Ankara, you are a little more lucky because Pegasus’s Ankara flight There are direct flights from Amman to Amman and it is possible to get a ticket for less than $300 per person.
For direct flights from Istanbul, you can use Royal Jordanian or Turkish Airlines.. Let me remind you again that you can get discounted tickets to Petra with the ticket you bought from THY.. Do not think that Royal Jordanian is a high quality airline after seeing its high prices, the only difference from Pegasus is that it offers sandwiches or pastries.
If you don’t mind going via connecting from the United Arab Emirates, Flydubai and Air, which offer fantastic prices from time to time, Following Arabia’s campaigns is also an option.
You can find detailed information about what you need to know before making a travel plan in the article “Jordan Travel Guide with Basics”. The videos we took during our trip to Jordan are available on the Corporate Tourist youtube channel..
Jordan Prices #2 – Transportation
We used a rental car our entire trip to Jordan. We paid a bit of a high price as we were on the last day of the rental.. If you book early, you can rent a cheaper price.. In addition, we allocated 8 days to Jordan, which is usually 4-5 days.. In other words, if the number of days you will stay is lower, of course, the cost of car rental will be lower than ours.. One of the points that will affect the total cost in the Jordan plan will be the transportation alternative you choose.. Renting a car is definitely the most convenient way to travel around Jordan, but if you don’t have limited time and your priority is to minimize travel expenses, using local buses will relieve your Jordanian travel budget..
As public transport prices are quoted in Jordanian dinars (JOD) everywhere, I have added dinar equivalents to this list..
Prices in Jordan #3 – Accommodation
Hotel prices in Jordan vary a lot not only according to the region, but also according to the period you visit.. For example; The price of a luxury tent camp in Wadi Rum, which costs $150 per night during the high season, can go as low as $35 in December.. Since we went at the end of April, that is, in the peak season, we had trouble finding a hotel and paid very high prices.
Wadi Rum is the most affordable region for accommodation because you stay in a tent.. Standard tent for two people per night including breakfast approximately $25. 10 dollars per person for a night’s accommodation is not a bad price at all, but the place you stay is the tent! This is the price-quality performance I’m talking about; At the point where you want it to be cheap, you pay more than you deserve for things that are not worth it.
The area where hotel prices hurt is definitely Petra and Wadi Musa.. It is a crowded and touristic place far beyond our expectations; Hotels fill up very quickly.. Even very fake hotels or hostels (called Furnished apartments) can ask for $100 per night..
At this point, my advice is to stay in a luxury hotel if you don’t have a budget problem; “I wouldn’t pay that much for the hotel.” If you say so, stay directly at the hostel.. Do not be deceived by the name of the “Hostel” and think that you will stay in a dormitory, you can arrange a private room and stay in the comfort of a hotel.. When you encounter a problem, at least you have the chance to console yourself for paying less.. Click here to view the hotels around Petra.
Because of the numerous Bedouin tents in the Wadi Rum region, some tourists may prefer to arrange their accommodation in Wadi Rum in the Petra and Aqaba plan, because the distance between them is around 1.5-2 hours.. For detailed information, you can refer to the article “Petra Ancient City: Route Details and Tips“. You can also view the tent camps in Wadi Rum by clicking here..
Prices in Jordan #4 – Food & Beverage
We see that our food and beverage costs also occupy an important place in the chart.. Unlike our other travels, our consumption of alcoholic beverages was relatively low in Jordan, as Uğur was on a diet . He also took care to eat salad and vegetable dishes in the restaurants where we sat.. This means – sadly – we spend less than usual..
By looking at the details of the meals we eat, you can have an idea about meal prices in Jordan . It may be possible to find better options in shabby Palestinian restaurants and falafel shops around Amman, but the only escape from tourist prices in places like Petra is to cook yourself.. As far as we can see, the price you will pay for a meal is at least 5 dollars, even in a street buffet.
However, I can say that most of the prices I have listed are from very popular, clean and quality restaurants.. I explained all the places we were very pleased with in the article “Jordan Travel Guide with Basic Information”.
Prices in Jordan #5 – Activity
The most annoying detail of the
Jordan trip cost is the Petra entrance fee of 50 dinars. That’s why we have a lot of activity compared to other travel cost articles.
We visited most of the places to visit in Jordan; I’ve listed all the places we’ve seen with their prices below.. This is where the “Jordan Pass” detail comes into play.. We toured all places with “Zero dollars” in the spending column for free with the Jordan Pass. In addition, together with the Jordan Pass, we bought The Baptism Site (Baptism Site) ticket with a 30% discount.
If you are not planning such a comprehensive itinerary, especially if you don’t want to visit Petra and Wadi Rum and come back. If you are thinking, there is no point in getting a Jordan Pass.
Another thing is the full-day desert tour in Wadi Rum.. Since we did not want to be a part of a large group, we arranged a private tour and paid 90 dinars per person, but you can keep the price low by joining the group or by buying a shorter tour instead of a full day.. For detailed information, you can refer to the article “Wadi Rum Desert Travel Guide and Places to Visit”.
Prices in Jordan #6 – Other
In this section, I usually add expenses that I cannot categorize such as visa, shopping, local lines.. Since Jordan is visa-free and we don’t have room to go shopping with cabin luggage, we only have $15 local line and the Renny expense that we bought from the pharmacy, which started to burn my stomach as a result of the meal made from poor quality oils.
If we evaluate the trip to Jordan in general;
Total cost for 7 nights, 8 days excluding plane tickets: $2146, $1073 per person
Daily expenditure per person for transportation, accommodation and food, excluding activities: 86 dollars
Our total trip cost for two, Jordan tour prices You may think that there is not much difference when you compare it with. However, I would like to underline again that as an extra to the standard tour programs, we have; Includes 2 days stay in Petra Ancient City and 2 nights in the region, Petra by Night, 3 dives in Aqaba, alcoholic beverages, full-day private Jeep safari tour in Wadi Rum. So a plan you make yourself will be cheaper than taking a tour to Jordan.
